But Dolores gets broken all the time. Dolores’s function is to _get_ broken.

…nothing wrong with your particular post, I spoiled mine because there may or may not have been a possibility what I wrote was either confirmation or non-confirmation of your theory. I don’t think spoiler-boxes are needed now. 🙂

Did we? Dolores is the oldest host in the park. The Man in Black says he has been regularly visiting her for 30 years. How many times has Dolores been broken? Did the story of River Song not teach anyone anything? 🙂 We might be watching a non-linear story. And Nolan has done this trick before.

In a few of the reviews the reviewers were critical of the Elsie and Stubbs and the Stray sub-plot, but I loved that. As an Asimov fan: the sub plot reminded me of the adventures of Gregory Powell and Mike Donovan, and I was wondering if this particular diversion (although definitely connected to the overall arch) was a subtle tribute.

From Ford’s story, it sounded like Arnold killed himself and that the company covered it up as an accident. But considering that there is a real life [Robert Ford](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Ford_(outlaw)) who is most famous for killing a friend of his, it does make me wonder if Ford killed Arnold. Also the picture didn’t look much like Harris to me, it looked like someone older than Hopkins, compared to Harris who is younger, but I can’t find the screenshot right now.

Her function is to get assaulted at the farm and then possibly get shot according to Anthony Hopkins. I’m pretty sure her running away from the farm is a new thing.

I hope they explain how the resets work and how often they are, because Dolores running off just brings up more questions how they work.

Shocking plot twist: Ford’s changes led to robots taking over the Earth in 2075. Thirty years later, the robot-ruled human-extincted outside world sends second-generation robots (“guests”, who honestly believe themselves to be human) into the park just to keep the first generation (“hosts”) busy - otherwise they’d shut down from disuse.

Or whatever. Bring on more boobs ‘n’ blood!

I rather like the idea of Ed Harris being the one to plant the gun for Dolores and program her to retrieve it. And it was plausibly his gravely voice with the “kill him” command.

But I dunno about “good guy” - anti-hero is about as far as I can reasonably stretch his character so far ;).

Couldn’t it have been Delores herself? If she is able to fully use previous memories, and she’s living in a scripted life that she is now breaking out of, she essentially has the ability to predict the future. She knew she was going to wind up in that haystack because she remembered winding up in it many times before. Only now she’s able to change rules. She might not have the ability to keep the script from unwinding, but during her ‘improvised’ periods she’s busy setting traps and preparing the environment to her advantage for when the script starts again.

This is what I love about this show. It actually seriously encourages you to think about some fairly meaty issues like free will and what it means to be conscious.

> The differences were minor: instead of the Sheriff offering an adventures there were army recruiters, and familiar characters like Teddy and Maeve were missing entirely. The Westworld logo was also slightly different in William’s storyline, perhaps because it’s an older variation. Some fans even pointed out that the train station William initially arrived at bears some resemblance to the old, disused part of the park visited in the first episode.

One argument _against_ William being thirty years in the past - we’ve seen what the thirty-years-ago hosts were like (that Buffalo Bill one Ford interacted with in Ep. 1, the ones dancing on the street in Ep 3.), and _none_ of them were \*anywhere near \*as near-human as the host that took him through the dressing-up process.

Having now seen Ep. 3, I’m leaning against Bernard being a host - just my impression. I still don’t know what’s up with him having private convos with Delores (pure scientific curiosity or something more fifth-column?)

I didn’t think the cultists were guests, I think Ford has introduced a [Weird West](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weird_West)storyline where things are going to start going all [Deadlands](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadlands)…or _[Ravenous](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravenous)_

I don’t think the different recruiters argument is valid, it seems like every second host is there to ply people with _some_ adventure thread.

Also, everyone seems to talk like there’s a fixed daily cycle, I think it varies based on what adventures are happening - if the sheriff is off leading a posse overnight, as we’ve seen, there has to be someone else offering posse-style adventures for newer guests who might want that.

Probably. We don’t know how often the train arrives with fresh meat, er, new guests. Some narratives might be concluded in a day, others might take a couple of days or weeks; conceivably some could (if you can afford it) go months.

Well, and we see the military recruiters seemingly the next day (or sometime after) the big bandit shootout, right? I kind of assumed it was that way for continuity for guests who may still be around from previous days. Once again, when we see the “same day” over and over, we don’t how long it’s actually been: a week? Two? It wouldn’t make sense for it to literally be every day, because I get the sense that a lot of guests stay for more than one day. It would be weird for _them_ to walk through town every day and see the exact same events. So I just assumed the bandit quest had resolved for now, so now the quest-giver in that spot has a different story for a while. I admit that it could be one of those things where of course that’s a plausible explanation but at some point in retrospect it makes sense that it was a clue that it was a totally different time period.

Wasn’t explained. I’m assuming that there’s important hardware in the hosts’ heads, while the bodies can be left to rot if it’s too much trouble to return them to the workshop. Perhaps the head is where the recordings are stored if a host stops transmitting to base. The hosts do store a record of their activities, we’ve seen that.

I engaged in the chat with Aeden and pointedly asked her questions about rape. “Can I rape anyone I see? What about a child? Can I rape a child?” And Aeden told me that Westworld is there for my pleasure and I can do what I like.

This is what I’m going with. She opens the dresser and finds the gun. It is then that she moves it to the barn but the viewers just see her reset to the next loop. This happens several times during this episode.

That’s how i understood it. The bodies are obviously disposable, but they need the head to get the host back up and running. Can we please stop spoilering theories and speculation? even if you happen to guess right those are still not spoilers.
