I find that dogs wet their noses especially when they are outside simply sniffing, aka, “reading their newspaper” as one dog training book put it. The moisture adds to heighten the incoming scent’s sensibilities without costing a cent. ---

PS I hope I don’t get into trouble for saying so, but the only reason I posted this was to bump some thread, any thread, past that goddam “fucking A” that’s been staring me in the face every time I look in here. No wonder this site gets designated “adult” by some of the internet rating agencies (I wonder how that saga is playing out). There’s always an f-u-c-k fuck thread in most if not all forums, _always_, and quite few of them are really gross, not the kind of shit your boss wants you to be spending time with on his dime, and can you blame him? Not all are immediately identifyable by the thread title, but they are there, masses of them. I don’t think there has been anything left unsaid about the subject by now, and if I was King of the world, or God, or something like that I would impose a year of neoVictroianism not only on this site, but on the whole damn arrestedly developed world which has going on and on and on about fuckfuckfuckfucking ENOUGH!!! PPS the purpose of this thread will be lost if it is removed to the pit, or just plain removed, and it really does serve a useful purpose as is, so I hope it is left alone. Thanks. ---

**colonial** , the tangent you have raised really belongs in the ATMB forum. If you’d like further discussion on it, please repost it there. One reason we’re an “adult” site is that we want to have frank and open discussions about various things. Cecil’s columns (upon which our website was founded) were originally (and still are) published in alternative newspapers, and deal with topics that one won’t often find in mainstream papers. The classic ones are “why is feces brown?” and “what is the caloric count of sperm?” The origin of “fuckin-A” is another such, although it’s not a column by Cecil, it’s a staff report. And, frankly, since we’re not doing staff reports any more, this forum is pretty much dead, so whatever’s on page one on this forum tends to stay there. The second reason we’re an adult site is that we don’t want to have to censor language beyond minimum (primarily, when words are directed at another poster.) If use of “fuck” is the way people express themselves – and, frankly, it’s becoming more and more so – then let them. It’s not my personal taste except _in extremis_ but other can do as they choose. ---

The Instructions from the Moderator were, this thread is about wet dog noses. The tangential stuff was OK for a post or two, but at this point, take it ATMB.
