Now, did you use Scientician methods, and serve the martini’s blindly to a panel?

If not, where do I get in line to get on the panel, as of course you’ll do this, now that it’s been suggested.

as a fan of Gin, I have yet to have a gin martini. Twice I’ve ordered one, and gotten a Vodka drink. No bad (ok, bad, I like my drinks a bit more subtle these days), but I want to try a dang martini.

It’s not Scienticioius, it’s Pataphysical. Be sure to get two olives. And make sure they follow Mr. Smith’s recipe, or else just wave the vermouth bottle gently over the glass and put it away.
DRY!!!
You shook it too long.
How many shakes do you use? I did three or four. I agree that shaking is not just a good idea, but critical when you use vodka, but then again you don’t have a martini any more.

Oh, and **El Hefe** , the type of gin is of course the most essential element. I go with Plymouth. Cheap gin makes a cheap martini no matter what else you do to it.

**Tristan** As far as blind tasting, it doesn’t matter. There is such a noticeable difference in temperature that you can’t hide which is which. I am always up for further research though.

I had a blue bedouin in Manhattan once. Vanilla infused vodka with a rock candy garnish. May we live in interesting times.
