Mrs. Morty got me a beer advent calendar. Today’s beer is “Bat Shit Crazy Ale”. A bit on the sweet side as it’s a milk beer. Nice coffee taste, no artificial notes. Not super impressive but hey never turn down a free beer. Let’s see what tomorrow brings. ---

I’m to collect Tobias at Daughter’s school in a couple of hours. Not sure how we’ll handle the drop off - I’ll find out. News on BIL front - his brain is a mess! He didn’t know what year it is, his equilibrium is all screwed up, and he flat-out told the Dr he shouldn’t be driving… which I found interesting. **FCD** has to make appointments for him to get some scans (not sure which kinds) and something else which I’ve forgotten. So the whole dynamic is changed - all driving/errands will fall to us. I’m not sure how that will shake out in the coming days. I’d planned to spend today finishing the finger puppets, but that won’t happen till I’m kidless, tho another 3-hour nap day would be great. We’ll see how it all shakes out. Meanwhile, it’s in the 20s, so I’ll need to bring in more firewood and get the basement warming up again. On the plus side, my injured thumb is becoming more functional, if weird-feeling. The numbness means I have to actually look at what I’m doing because I don’t feel where my thumb is. Very strange sensation. I’m just glad it’s on my non-dominant hand. OK, Onward!! ---

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 70 and N.O.S. for the day. We are mattress shoppin’ this mornin’. I know you are all ever so jealous of that! A new mattress is needed so we have decided that will be our Christmas present to each other. Since it’s a king sized mattress it will be spendy so we can call it an extravagant gift. Romantics we are. Other than that the usual sloth and general overall uselessness shall be prevail. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit. **MOOOOOOM** happy Tobester wranglin’. I guess it’s good that your BIL knows he shouldn’t be drivin’. Here’s hopin’ for the best outcome there can be. Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, I suppose, bother of bothers, I must purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life is just so difficult! Good morning everyone. It’s currently 29 degrees with an expected high of 41 and a chance of snow or rain showers depending on which forecast I look at. **FCM** , I’m sorry to read of your BiL’s issues and that the fallout results in even more care and work for you and FCD. I really hope a solution is found because you two can’t keep doing ALL of this on your own. Welcome, **godbod**! We’re a good bunch of folks, so I hope you stick around. I think you know that deep down and I’m preaching to the choir. **Morty** , that beer sounds interesting to me. Work was all sorts of crazy. I had to work late, and even though I’m supposed to be off today, I have to log on first thing and make sure some additional paperwork for a contract is pushed through and that a budget analyst is there to fund certify it. This HAS to happen as I have a furniture removal/disposal taking place on Monday. The office relocation and move for that particular office have been nothing short of annoying, irksome, and downright aggravating. Yeah, I know they all mean pretty much the same thing, but each has its own level of “ugh!”. I am NOT driving over the passes this weekend and that’s another thing I need to get sorted this morning. Because, if no one works at that location on Monday, it means I need to be there. Well, I suppose I should finish my coffee and gird my loins for the what I need to do in about 45 minutes. ---

**Moooooom** , it sucks that the driving chores will have to fall to FCD, but am glad that your BIL recognized that he wasn’t fit to drive. Have fun with knitting puppets. Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels / grocery bags in the dryer, a load of jeans in the wash and everything else on deck. Shortly, I’ll begin cleaning house (joy! 🙄 ). Slept in until after 8am, so slowly getting the day started; paper retrieved, pill taken, and World Cup on in the background. 50F outside with a slight chance of rain (looks like **red** may get more of it than I). **godbod** , you a student or employee there? Sounds hard, but I think your Mom’s advice is the best, stirring things up will just get you ostracized and maybe in trouble you don’t need. But then I’m old and placid, so YMMV. Best of luck. **FCM** , I think you’d better be ready to have **FCD** on pretty much 24/7 call, given his brother’s diagnosis and FIL’s dementia. Hang in there and let Toby entertain you. **Taters** , you hang in there too; sounds like with great responsibility comes great annoyance… **Nettie** , sounds like most Western stuff goes through Denver…just like flying in the South and Atlanta; hope it gets there soon. **Morty** , I’ve smell batshit (many caves are home to thousands of bats and they have terrible toilet habits…) and…it ain’t all that bad. My condolences, **godbod.** Maybe think of it like a reconnaissance mission? Gathering intel, learning their ways, and preparing yourself so that in the future, you may be better equipped to debate them. But right now, you’re probably in no position to change anyone’s mind - they’ll just double down on trying to change _yours._ So my advice is to keep your head down, stay outta trouble, and come here (or to the Pit) to vent away as needed. ---
