Good call - don’t give her the name of the company or the phone number. Give her a fake company name if you have to. If she needs to reach you she can always leave a message. And in the infinitismally small chance that she should have an actual emergency and not be able to reach you, oh well, she earned that. She can call 911.

I’m so glad I started reading this thread late. This way I don’t have to wait for the best part.

Not being a mental health professional I don’t know if narcicism would be part of your mom’s diagnosis, but I have a manipulating “If you loved me you wouldn’t…or would…[some thing that benefits her and hurts me]” mom. Years ago a therapist recommended a book to me called [Trapped in the Mirror](http://www.amazon.com/Trapped-Mirror-Elan-Golomb/dp/0688140718)

While I understand the advice to cut her out of your life, I can’t imagine ever being able to do that. The book helped me feel less like I was responsible for her hurt feelings and machinations.

I think the advice about choosing when to take her calls is doable.
