I hope they’re paying the host family on the Paris Hilton show (simple life?) well. These girls aren’t even trying. I just happened to surf onto this show and out of curiosity watched it for a few moments. That’s all I could stand. What a waste of oxygen. It’s not funny, it’s just disgusting. ---

I’m proud to say that I haven’t seen the show. But my father and I (we’re both from semi-rural Arkansas) were watching a commerical for the program when he turned to me and said, “The sad thing is, those backwoods Arkansas farmers are probably smarter than those girls.” Preach it, Daddy. ---

They might be rich, but based on their conversations and actions, they appeared to be pert near brainless. What I did find interesting was the willingness of the farmers to “take them on” and to be so patient, and to treat them no differently than they would one of their own kids. I have to admit though, I was also surprised by the fact that it mattered to the girls how the people around them viewed them. This is probably the first time in their lives they’ve had to make it on their own merit rather than their looks, money, or family name. Nicole seems to be a little more aware of the reality of the situation, and that “real” people are involved, than is Paris. DAMMIT I have to admit, the concept is rather interesting, even if the two girls themselves aren’t. razzem frazzem Fox TV , mutter mutter 😃 ---

I correctly deduced what this thread referred to as well, tho I’ve not seen the show, just some clips and the commercials and whatnot. While the two might make interesting cock ornaments, I’m sure they are completely useless in any practical sense. I hope the producers show our rural friends in a fair light. ---

It’s definitely interesting, if not all that surprising. There are some genuinely nice people in rural Arkansas, just like anywhere else. But from what I’ve heard, that family has gone beyond the call of duty in dealing with those two. ---

In one part, Nicole was hanging out in the front yard getting to know some boys that I am assuming (I haven’t seen most of it) were friends of the elder son of the farmer. Paris was inside getting dressed and “fancying up” wearing full on war paint and some designer label skimpy dress. When she finally blessed the boys with her appearance, they all seemed a bit taken aback, no one said much, despite the fact that Nicole seemed to have been getting along okay with them before Paris appeared. To Nicole’s credit, she seemed a bit embarrassed by her friend’s overdressed, over made up appearance. The girl must have mush for brains. ---

It would be ironic if FOX’s decision to air this show heats up the class war in this country, given that network’s conservative bent. Perhaps burst the bubble of the “money’s all that matters” philosophy that’s all the rage these days. I can’t imagine that working people would view those twits as anything other than parasites - their willingness to lie, cheat and perhaps poison their boss’s customers is just shocking. You did see them hiding bottles they couldn’t fill, and watering down the ones they did using some bucket they found laying around? I sure hope everyone in that town was compensated for putting up with them. ---

I don’t think we’ll be getting much of a prize…this seems to be the kind of pot you split, and so far, it seems to be getting pretty small. I watched up till Paris came out to meet the boys. For some reason, after that, I just didn’t care. Maybe it’s the joy of watching them suffer, and being bored isn’t quite the same as getting yelled at by some guy they’ve just met because they’re too stupid to manage filling bottles of milk. I was rather taken aback with how curt that guy was with them. It was actually rather refreshing. I have to say, for not knowing who the hell Nichole Richie was before this thing came around, I kinda like her attitude. She seems to handle the cattle pretty well. “Move you mother fuckers!!!” Classy and classic. ---

It’s too hard to really judge anyone on the show since so much of what the girls do (ie, using the hot tub) seems so set-up. I kind of like the show though. I think if left to her own devises, Nicole probably could do a decent day’s work. But, since the show is a bit more about Paris, I guess she’s the one who sets the pace (with the producers’ blessings, of course) ---

I read an article yesterday in which Paris claims that “I was playing a character. I’m totally normal. I think it’s obnoxious when people demand limos or bodyguards. I eat at McDonald’s or Taco Bell. My parents always taught us to be humble. _We’re not spoiled_.” Oh. So you’re just PLAYING like you can’t do anything at all. Gotcha. Right. ---

I’m assuming that the dairy farmer was paid well for losing practically a whole day’s work on those two. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone as clueless as those two. I am becoming more and more convinced that Paris Hilton is a robot. If she isn’t a robot, then there can’t be more than two or three brain cells rolling around in that empty space between her ears. At least Nichole Ritchie has the ability to show emotion, as in embarassment at her best friend’s apparent inability to relate to any other human being. I thought it was hilarious when Paris came out into the yard in her high fashion get-up and got no reaction at all, except for that one comment, “Your last name is Motel 6, right?” Heh.
