I’ve been on Truth Social, and it’s boring af. Your feed will show you the statements and retruths from the people you follow, which are all the same stupid propaganda, and you can read and comment. Some of the threads are all fanboy comments and memes, and others get filled with memes and comments by trolling liberals. But that’s it. There’s no trend lines, no way to find interesting conversation or see what people are talking about right now. It’s so boring it’s not even fun to troll. I bet it dies of attrition within a year. Trump is even “Truthing” regularly, and no one seems to care. Except Trump. I suspect he’s paid handsomely to “truth”, because I read the SEC filing and they said they would be doing that. It’s just another grift for Trump. ---

That’s what they get for basing it on free software that was deliberately designed to be “less exciting” than Twitter. Perhaps they could add trending topics and such engagement driving features to the Mastodon base, but that would require paying actual developers. ---

What do Trump and his buddies benefit by bailing now? If the company is being investigated for stuff the company has previously done, and it turns out there is some legal liability there, are the then-directors (to-wit: Trump, et al) still on the hook for that? ---

That was my question as well. The things that came to mind, is that they can leave someone else in charge of the cover-up so that its Nunes who gets charged with obstruction of justice for shredding the incriminating documents. Also they might want to get away from it for reputation reasons, so that when the whole thing goes belly up and thousands of Trump fans who lose their life savings, Trump can say that he had nothing to do with it. They sent him a fat check if he agreed to let them use his name but otherwise he never heard of it. ---
