I was waiting for a bus near the airport today when I saw an aircraft type that I’ve never seen before. It was of a configuration similar to a Dash 8 - high wing monoplane, T-tail and twin engines - except that instead of two turbo-prop engines it had two turbo-jets or turbo-fans. I think it may have even been slightly smaller than a Dash 8 but that’s a bit of a guess. Any ideas as to what I saw? Thanks ---

The Dornier is much closer in size to the Dash 8, so that is more likely to be what you saw. Also, assuming you are in the USA, Dorniers are operational in the US while I don’t think the Antonov is. ---

I managed to get a photo of it on the tarmac a couple of days ago. From here [Fairchild Dornier 328JET - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairchild_Dornier_328JET) we see the project was not a commercial success. I’ve seen one on maybe half a dozen occasions in the last 20 years. You’re fortunate to have seen a pretty rare bird.
