I’m not talking about a certain movie or joke. I’m talking about something relatively ordinary that just strikes your funny bone. For me, it’s our hamster, Mr. Sandy Man. He lives in a wire cage in the living room, and he insists on climbing the walls of it and trying to negotiate his way across the wire ceiling. And he falls. Every time. Frequently, in fact. And I crack up every time I see him plummet to the floor of his cage like a piece of fruit. Then he climbs back up for another try. Three, four, five times in a row, he’ll climb up in the same spot, hang there for a while, then _whoomp!_ he plummets again like a small, furry sack of rice. My family thinks I’m crazy. But it cracks me up every time. ---

**Dave** -darlin’, you are a sick, sick man. I think this explains our friendship better than anything else ever could. 🙂 At the moment, I can’t think of anything at the moment. Other than **Verrain** unintentionally slipping into Bartok-voice/phrasing when we’re driving down the highway. He thinks I’m nuts, I think it’s funny. ---

One of the houses on my way home from school keep about 5 fat chickens in their back garden. Sometimes the fattest chicken of all ( I call him Eric )climbs up onto a bush and perches on a particular branch that sticks out from the bush. He is too fat and he makes the thin branch bend. I can’t help laughing because he looks so proud to be on the branch and yet he looks so dumb. Whats even funnier, if you stand and laugh at him for a little while he looks at you in disgust and climbs down in the most dignified way he can. How I love him. ---

My 7 month old kitten, Hanna, makes me laugh. She fetches, and she is really serious about it. She will run full speed, and if she is going too fast (or the toy stops short of where she guessed it would), she will slam on the brakes with her front legs and her back legs (still going) will come in the air, so she is doing a hand stand. A few times she has flipped right over. ---

My family lives about 60 miles outside of the Twin Cities. When I lived there, we’d go into the cities fairly often, say a few times a week for shopping, dinner, whatever. The drive is monotonous because it’s on a two-lane highway (or is it single lane, one lane for each direction) and in the middle of cornfields. At about the halfway point, the highway runs past the backs of a few houses and there is this dog that is very happily chained to a pole on a leash and he’s always trotting around in a circle, counterclockwise. Always. And always counterclockwise. He’s been doing it for so long that he’s worn down a track and there’s no grass, just a circle of dirt where he trods. Cracks me up every time I see it, he just looks like he’s got some very important business to attend to and doesn’t quite understand that he’s going nowhere! The dog has since passed away and the grass is growing back, but when I drive by, I still look for him. By the way, though I don’t know the owners myself, friends did and they said that the dog was well cared for, just that you gotta keep him in a fence or on a leash and he liked the leash, so it seems. Still, he was a landmark for a while there… ---

I was just going to say the way my cat likes to squish himself into a little box or something. For some reason he likes to lay on paper too. The other day I’d torn a scrap of paper out of a catalog because I wanted to order an item online and sure enough he walked over, put his front paws on it and lay down like it was SOOOOO comfy or something. Hilarious! ---

Hilarious! \*\* Our cat does the same thing! When we bring home groceries in paper bags, if we put the bags away, he’ll paw at them until he gets one onto the floor so he can sit on it. And he always has to get inside boxes, especially ones that are a little too small for him. I wish we had had our digital camera when I got a book from Amazon, and he had to lay in the box even though his legs were hanging out. Almost everything that cat does cracks me up, from the paper fetish to the way he lays on my head when I’m in bed. He will lay across the top of the pillow with his paws in my ear, or on the side, and he has to practically stand on my face while he’s laying down so he can be _right_ next to my head and put his paws on my shoulder. Cats are an almost endless source of amusement generally. ---

A friend of ours had some neighbors with a dog like this. Except it wasn’t chained up at all. It marched back and forth on the unfenced ( before electric fencing thingies) property all day long. It wore a rut into the yard. Must have taken its guard duty seriously, but he always looked so happy doing it. Back to the OP: Whenever I tell my dog " We are going to the store ( school, library, errands) and \*you can come too \*" She just goes completely \*bonkers \*. It is a major drag in the summer time because of the heat, I can’t leave her in the van, so she has to stay home and boy, do I get the pouty eyes then. ---
