I am reminded of an episode of Wild America… the episode was about the N.A. weasle family in general (wolverines, fishers, otters, etc…) and there was footage of a Martin (I think, might have been a blackfoot ferret… but small ferret sized) killing a very large rabbit/hare by tenaciosly hanging onto its face until the thing died. I remember being amazed at the size/weight disparity (not to mention the way the bunny was dispatched).
I can’t see how amazing it could be. As already pointed out, these are predators slaughtering much smaller herbivores. As anyone who has ever had a fox or stoat in their henhouse will tell you, mammals are capable of the same thing. I know for a fact that a fox will easily kill over 20 chickens within an hour. I have no idea when or if they would stop killing, but they would certainly be able to kill well over 200 times their own weight in a session if the resources were available.
I agree with Doug, the comparison is lacking.
BTW, there is no such word as virii. One virus, two viruses. If you want to be real pedantic then the Latin is one virus, two virus. Never virii.
DougC’s link goes to the Google page on “clouded leopards”. As we know, Google sells ads based on subjects and in some cases the ads are generic with a “fill in the blank” to make it look relevant.
So the featured ad on DougC’s link are:
I was tempted to log on to see what kind of bargains there were on clouded leopards this week.
