[QUOTE=Dr. PoopiePants]
Except for chipmunks :eek: . They are abominations of nature whose very existence keeps my psyche thrust into a downward spiral of perpetual anxiety and a feeling of impending doom.
[/QUOTE]

A chipmunk bit me once because I ran out of peanuts to feed it. But I don’t think they’re creepy. Evil and greedy, yes.

[QUOTE=Tikki]
I saw this documentary where they showed this frog or toad that somehow lays its eggs on its back. Under the skin! When the babies are ready, these big holes somehow open up and they come squirming out. Icky! Icky! Icky!

**Tikki** , **stuyguy** , do you know what makes [Surinam Toads](http://dfwherp.org/cth/hotm/hotm_base.php?year=2002&month=june&shortname=surinamtoad&author=cjf) even creepier? They have [_little hands_](http://dfwherp.org/cth/hotm/2002/surinamtoad/img/surinamtoad_foot.jpg) at the ends of each of their fingers. Sleep well.

Armadillos? Komodo Dragons? C’mon – they’re incredibly cool! They look like dinosaurs! (Of course it helps that I don’t live within 1000 miles of either one).

And possums play dead. That’s endearing…isn’t it?

I’m ok with bugs, as long as I can see them from a distance and don’t get surprised. But I hate, hate HATE to turn over a rock or a log and see something repulsive under there. eewwewwweww. (I’m a grown man, by the way.)

Yes, that’s how it starts. Take heed, be vigilant and be prepared to flee when necessary. Only fools attempt heroics when engaged by [Tamias striatus](http://www.fcps.edu/StratfordLandingES/Ecology/mpages/eastern_chipmunk.htm) (or any of his loathsome related specie brethren). I’ve seen things that chipmunks do – things that could make your skin crawl and exfoliate completely from your body. Oh, if only I could erase those haunting memories from my mind.

After seeing the post about whip scorpions, it reminded me of some pictures that a buddy of mine had after he ran into some camel spiders when in Iraq. This isn’t his picture, but you get the idea. Spiders have never bothered me, but the SIZE of those things give me the frickin’ heebie jeebies.

[Barn owls](http://images.google.co.uk/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&q=barn+owl&btnG=Search) creep me out. That strange face just seems like it’s trying to suck the soul right out of you. And they’re owls of course, so they _stare_ at you intensely, no matter how uninteresting you’re trying to be.

But then I’ve dealt with them in person a few times, and they’re fine. Gentle, harmless things — as long as you’re not a small rodent. Which I’m not.

By the way, after reading this whole thread, I’m thinking that the Ministry of Love officials in Oceania are going to have their hands full stocking Room 101, if they ever arrest the people here.

I just grabbed a quick pic off the internet, I hope it was legit. The ones I have from buddy are all out of focus (I think he was running away, screaming like a little girl when he was snapping them, IIRC.) Even in those pics of his the damn things were huge, and very aggressive looking.

Like most some bugs creep me out; spider, ticks, roaches, silverfish in particular.

Opossums creep me out a little but I have handled them a few times when necessary, well mostly only babies. Not going to touch a full-grown one thankyouverymuch.

Most of the other things mentioned didn’t really creep me out. Sunfish are weird and unfinished looking but I think they’re fascinating. That furry muppet caterpillar is also weird and fascinating. I’ll go with the hagfish being a little squicky, especially when you know it’s methods of eating.

Now for my submission. [This thing](http://abs.gprime.net/Mr.Blobby.jpg) is squicky looking but I also can’t look away.

I had to dig up the [pic with the description](http://www.amonline.net.au/FISHES/about/fieldwork/norfanz/psychrol2.htm) . It’s a deepsea fish called a Fathead.

In fact there’s a few more interesting Deep sea fishes [here](http://www.austmus.gov.au/fishes/fishfacts/spectype.htm). Take a look at the Humpback Blackdevil or Fangtooth (unless you fear they may cause nightmares - they may!). Or how about the Stoplight Loosejaw, Elsman’s Whipnose Anglefish or Murray’s Abyssal Anglerfish? This is where horror movie producers could get ideas for their monster/alien movies.

Pit bulls. I walk my beagles every day and have had 6 serious problems in the park. They all were pit bulls. I have jumped on picnic tables, dumped my dog into trash cans to save it and have beat them away with sticks. Do not write and say your pit wouldnt do that. They all said the same thing.
