I’ve eaten seal meat.

Barbcued.

Oily and fishy tasting but with a texture similar to beef.

Imagine what a cow would taste like if it only eats fish. That’s similar to the appearance and taste of seal.

Nasty stuff. And smelly.

But better than walrus.

And now for the real answer:

> What are seal skins used for?

1. To keep seal guts off the snow
2. Like natural hot dog casings, it provides the killer whales with the satisfying “SNAP” when they bite into a seal dinner. Otherwise it would be like eating oysters, and killer whales _hate_ oysters.

Crazy Newfoundlander checking here.

It really isn’t very economical. But Sealers can make a good chunk of their annual income (about 10,000) in a week or two.

(By the way…How does one make the link appear as a word? Where is an appropriate place to find this stuff out?)

I was once served this during a visit to Newfoundland. I recall it being rather good (and not notably fishy).

Like this (replace {} with ):
{[URL=xxxxx.com](http://URL=xxxxx.com)}linkword{/URL}

Thanks.
Come back for a visit any time… the real delicacy to try is cod tongues. yum.
