What are some must have apps for your phone?

We love our Galaxys!

One of the niftiest apps we use is Our Groceries. We loaded it on both phones, synced the app and now SWMBO can send me to the store and I have the list, and she can just add something to the list and it shows up while I’m shopping. She doesn’t have to call me and tell me that she forgot something.

I also do contract work and I keep track of my time using Time Recording Pro. It allows me to export my work hours into a spreadsheet format to use as I create my invoices. Very useful.

SoundHound (which I already mentioned) is better than Shazam, IMO. I own the paid version of both apps (I got them each for 10 cents on the Christmas before last’s sale), and I’ve deleted the latter in favor of the former.

Not only do I like SoundHound’s lyrics streaming, but it doesn’t require some of the overly-intrusive permissions that *Shazam *requires.

ETA: For a fun time with either app, see if you can hum/sing a song that the app can recognize.

how do you set it up to do that? I have the app and am frustrated because I dont know how to do that, I have to dl my podcasts 1 at a time manually. I want to set it up to automatically update all my podcasts early in the am and only on wifi.

Waze. Waze, Waze, Waze.

Waze is a GPS/traffic app that works through social networking - people report hazards and traffic jams as they arise. Your speed is also monitored to get a sense of traffic flow. In response, Waze automatically routes you around bad traffic, alerts you of upcoming hazards, reports police, etc. I have a very long commute (90 minutes) and I honestly think Waze is the reason I still work where I do. If I had to deal with crazy traffic jams every other day, it would be too much. But I can’t even remember the last time I got stuck in a major traffic jam.

Oh, wait, yeah I can. It was that time I ignored Waze. The hardest thing about using Waze is learning to trust it. If it looks like it’s doing something crazy, there is almost always a reason. It knows things you don’t.

And it’s free.
