I love this movie.
I’ll suggest Beautiful Girls, if only for Natalie Portman.

I know what you mean. When ever there is a compliation there are always parts you like and parts you could do without. But I loved the first one, (the guy trying find a parking space) and the last one (woman from Denver), so it was OK for me.
The woman from Denver (Margo Martindale) was hysterical! I guess there weren’t many French speakers in the audience I was in (and I’m not saying I’m fluent, or anything), because I was the only one laughing at her incredibly American pronunciation.
I didn’t dislike any of the segments, but I would have enjoyed the whole film more if they had thrown some longer, more substantial, pieces into the mix. A couple of 20-30 minute segments would have been nice. As it is, many of them just didn’t have much impact.
BTW, did you notice that the one with Nick Nolte was one continuous, unedited shot? (Except for the reprise at the end, of course.)
I went through a run of seeing William H. Macy films a couple of years ago (goes hand-in-hand with seeing a run of David Mamet films, it seems) and decided that he was my favorite actor. Even when I don’t like a movie he’s in, chances are good that I’ve likes his part.
I haven’t heard of Door-to-Door 'til now; looks like I’ll have to pick it up. The reviews are all good, and having Mr. Macy as the lead gets it an automatic “must see” status.
Long ago, I started a thread about the movie Dear Frankie and no one replied. I loved that movie.
I also saw The Great New Wonderful a while back and, after watching it, looked for info here on the Dope and found none.
And I will third The Station Agent. Great movie.
