What are the best TV opening sequences?

I can’t say I like the song all that much but I remember when I first saw it, shortly after September 11th, the sentiment and optimism in humanity it conveyed actually made me feel a little better at the time.

I utterly absolutely agree. I forgot all about it.

(I won’t be able to sleep tonight until I point out it’s spelled “Carnivale”, ending in ‘e’.)

The Lone Ranger

And there was a short-lived Larry Hagman series called The Good Life.

Another thread just reminded me of the hilarious opening credits of Starsky and Hutch

THIS … IS … JEOPARDY!
WHEEL … OF … FOR-TUNE!
NoClueBoy … COME ON DOWN!

You are not alone! I think it’s a tremendous song, although after awhile it seems to not fit the show too well: it’s establishing the premise of how we got into space, and the longer the show continues, the less relevant it seems to be. Although I’m glad it wasn’t some kind of “Captain Archer and His Merry Band of Space Rangers,” either.
