1990s, blue. The first blue LEDs came out in the 90s and immediately all sorts of electronics had to have blue lights.
Yes! Horrible, horrible, ubiquitous teal and mauve. What was I thinking back then?
Anyone want a 15 year old couch? That smells faintly like dog?
Do we have a song, too?
Silver and orange are the hot colors now for cars, I’ve noticed. Not a chromatic orange, more like a burnt orange.
I actually kinda liked the 70’s colors. Not the mustard yellow so much, but the chocolate brown, avocado, rust, those were not bad. Much, much better than the horrendous peach, turquoise, and tan of the 80’s. Those make me gag to this day.
It depends which aspect of fashion or design you’re talking about. For mainstream everyday fashion in the 80s, take a look at a rerun of Moonlighting some time - the clothes are incredibly drab, everyone’s dressed head to foot in muted greys and beiges, and the interior decor is similarly subdued. The show almost looks like it was shot in monochrome.
I notice the brown too. At first when I saw clothes coming out in poop brown I was seriously going WTF? Now that I see it everywhere (usually with pink or baby blue) I’ve become more used to it, but still don’t like it.
The 80’s will always be about neon colors to me.
Pantone tracks the usage of colors, and even has each season’s fashion palates.
Here is a related article from Pantone about 40 years of color:

Looking at the colors - it seems pretty representative of the previous decades.
