# What are the funniest or most interesting bumper stickers?

In the 2000’s I guessed correctly that bumper stickers saying “Support the Truth” were available, so I got several.

Back in the day, the earliest of the “I’d rather be \_\_\_ing” bumper stickers was “I’d rather be sailing”.

The rejoinder soon appeared: “I, too, would rather you were sailing”

Not any one in particular, but I love watching the evolution (ha!) of Jesus Fish stickers, and am always on the look-out for new ones. It’s like a really slow-spreading meatspace meme. So far I’ve seen:

Fish  
Fish with “Jesus” inscribed  
Fish with legs  
Fish with “Darwin”  
Fish with legs and “Evolution”  
Big fish with “Truth” eating a small fish with “Darwin”  
Fish with tentacles and stalk eyes with “FSM”  
Fish with “Buddha”  
Fish on its side resembling a rocket with “science”

One could make a whole thread just on variations of  
“My other car is a(n) \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_”.  
– My other car is a broomstick.  
– My other car is a Cessna Skyhawk.

One could also make a whole thread of bumper stickers along the lines of:  
– Tree surgeons get into more crotches.  
– Glider pilots keep it up longer.

Here’s one I really saw:  
Oh, look. C code.  
C code run.  
Run, code, run.  
Run, dammit run!

There was a variation of this in California in the early 1990’s (?) when one-term Rep. Tom Huffington (I think his first name was Tom, IIRC) (yes, Arianna’s former husband) decided to run for the Senate against long-time incumbent Diane Feinstein, and both of them, being bazillionaires, were paying record-breaking amounts _out of their own pockets_ for their campaigns. There was a bumper sticker going around: “Make him spend it ALL, Diane!”

I once saw on a roofer’s truck: “Roofers do it on the roof”.

What? Is that supposed to be funny? Talk about not getting it!

Another thing that annoys/annoyed me was the proliferation of “Got \_\_\_\_\_” stickers/window decals when the “Got Milk” campaign was popular. They would usually be on some lame truck belonging to a sand delivery service or something that said “Got sand?” Why would I?

I have a friend who claimed complete ignorance of the “Calvin peeing” stickers during their heyday. Really? I usually hate those but I once saw one that was actually pretty funny but can’t remember what it was. Something like a peeing Calvin peeing on a peeing Calvin.

There was a catalog I used to subscribe to when I was a teenager (and I want to say [burningairlines.com](http://burningairlines.com), except this is before “dot com” anything \<- dating myself) that had an exhaustive selection of “radical” bumper stickers/t shirts/posters, etc but looking at their site it seems they’ve abandoned most of what made them edgy and cool. (They have a Katy Perry page FFS.)

To keep this in the spirit of the OP, I really like the [“Coexist”](http://www.stickershoppe.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/d201mini.jpg) sticker. Also the very simple [“Human Rights Campaign”](http://shop.hrc.org/media/catalog/product/cache/1/small_image/195x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/H/R/HRC11973_3.jpg) sticker. Thnough I once saw someone who had theirs _taped_ on the inside of their back window. What. You’re committed to human rights until you’re not? :rolleyes:

I don’t recall if I saw this actually on a car, but I saw a Calvin peeing on “copyright infringement” somewhere. Since Bill Watterson never approved any officially licensed Calvin and Hobbes merchandise, all those stickers are stealing his intellectual property.
