My list of only a few artists, since I listen to albums all the way through and rarely buy singles (I also listen randomly).

So mine is:

1T. Where Have all the Good Times Gone – Kinks
1T. (I Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman – Kinks
1T. Victoria – Kinks
1T. You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice – Lovin’ Spoonful
1T. Guillame Tell – Montreal Symphony
6T. Catch Me Now I’m Falling – Kinks
6T. Stop Your Sobbing – Kinks
6T. So What – Miles Davis
6T. Freddy Freeloader – Miles Davis
6T. Flamenco Sketeches – Miles Davis
6t. La Scala de Seta – Montreal Symphony
6T. Il Barbier di Sevigilia – Montreal Symphony

I listen to far more Beatles and Procul Harum than Kinks, and more Beethoven than Rossini, but I have fewer tracks by the Kinks and Rossini, so I listen to individual tracks more often.

1. The Exciters - “Tell Him”
2. LCD Soundsystem - “Someone Great”
3. Guided By Voices - “Teenage FBI”
4. The Hollies - “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress”
5. Kaiser Chiefs - “Love’s Not a Competition, But I’m Winning”
6. Arctic Monkeys - “Brianstorm”
7. Cyndi Lauper - “When You Were Mine”
8. Jarvis Cocker - “Don’t Let Him Waste Your Time”
9. Kasabian - “Me Plus One”
10. The Essex - “Easier Said Than Done”

Wow, I wasn’t expecting my list to look anything like this. Then again, pretty much all of these tracks have featured on playlists that I play a lot. I think the only exception is “Long Cool Woman” which is a song I tend to play on its own or add to Party Shuffle a lot.

My list surprised me too. They’re all songs I like of course but many are songs that have played in shuffle a lot more so than listening to the albums.

</div>

Pierre Bensusan, “Reels: The Pure Drop/Flax in Bloom” (74 plays)
The Gourds, “Pill Bug Blues”
Leo Kottke, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”
Allman Brothers, “Little Martha”
Long Winters, “Cinnamon”
Jenny Lewis, “The Big Guns”
New Pornographers, “Graceland”
Alejandro Escovedo, “Castanets”
Mission of Burma, “That’'s How I Esacaped My Certain Fate”
Darol Anger, “Banish Misfortune” (44 plays)

A quiet and wordless playlist that I shuffle while I work has leaned this a bit toward those kind of pieces.

I looked at iTunes on my computer, and there’s a column for play count. I don’t know about the actual iPod; I don’t have one. 🙂

I don’t think you can tell on an Ipod. iTunes tracks play count, though. Just organize your library around it or create a smart playlist that is based on playcount.

1: _Wonderwall_, Oasis (162)
2: _Angel Pumping Gas_, Postal (159)
3: _Two Coins_, Dispatch (158)
4: _AM Radio_, Everclear (157)
5: _Under African Skies_, Paul Simon (155)
6: _Lovers in a Dangerous Time_, Barenaked Ladies (152)
7: _The General_, Dispatch (152)
8: _Love is the Seventh Wave_, Sting (149)
9: _Sweetest Thing_, U2 (149)
10: _Romeo and Juliet_, The Brown Derbies (covering Dire Straits) (143)

This is a better example of songs that I’ve continued to like for several years than what I’d consider my current favorite songs, though. Only one of those songs have I owned for less than two years of the three years that I’ve used iTunes on this computer.

Well, there – I told you it was a stupid question! OK:

1. Walk Like A Man, Tim Mcgraw
2. That’s Just About Right, Blackhawk
3. Good Old Boys Like Me, Don Williams
4. How "Bout Them Cowgirls, George Strait
5. She’s So California, Gary Allen
6. Texas, George Strait
7. I Need You, Tim McGraw
8. Amarillo by Morning, George Strait
9. Life Ain’t Always Beautiful, Gary Allen
10. I Wonder If They Ever Think of Me, Merle Haggard

This is off iTunes, not my iPod, so I think it’s more my son’s list than mine. I rarely listen to music off iTunes, but my son always does, when he is home. If I could get a count off the iPod itself, I think it would be different.
