I got beaten to Glaswegian (my personal favorite)
I also like resident of Liverpool – “Liverpudlian”
I’m not sure what my city should be. We have a running
argument – Budapester or Budapestian. I’ll go with the former.
As for my real home town, Chicago, i think most people
there are called “Kowalski”

In Great Falls, we were the “Fall Guys” to the visiting school’s cheering section. Every game they would chant “Fall Guys! Fall Guys!”

We would remind them when they forgot- it was our favorite way to be insulted. A Cherished Tradition.

But as it happens, I’m American and speak English to my kids. What the h\*ll does one say in English…?

I live in a town called **Pompton Lakes** , so we mostly don’t call ourselves anything. (What would it be? Pomptonians? Lakelanders? Pomptites?)

I used to live in **Wayne** , but my suggestion of “Wayniacs” was never taken seriously.

Here in Alpine, Texas, we are called (mostly by the folks in south Brewster county):

**Alpendejos**

(That’s pronounced, “Al-pen-DAY-hoes”)

Which is actually a clever bilingual pun. We just call them “society drop-outs”.

Proud to be an Alpendejo!

People here (Columbia, SC) don’t seem to be called “Columbians,” or anything else, very often. “Midlands residents” is what is usually said on the local news. Perhaps due to the great proliferation of sprawly suburbs around here.

Then again, I personally don’t know a single person who lives here who is actually **from** here. I mean, I came here to go to school, and many other people come for that reason and just stay. I haven’t noticed a great deal of community spirit here, but that might just be my perspective.

Hmm. People from Sanibel, as well as Bonita Springs and Naples are known as “rich”, people from Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Port Charlotte are known as “cultureless”. And of course the population is divided between tourists and natives.

Phoenix = Phoenecian, which, I have to admit, is kind of cool. Detroit = Detroiter, which, is pretty ordinary.

BTW, “tonto” does mean “stupid” or “foolish” in Spanish. Cecil isn’t always right.

No, it isn’t. _Tonto_ DOES mean ‘idiot’ in Spanish. Look it up.

It’s just not the origin of the _Lone Ranger_ character’s name.
