# What are the random pains we feel temporarily in random parts of the body?

Occasionally, I feel a pain, sometimes sharp, other times dull, in some random part of the body, usually the head. Maybe an earlobe. Or the temple. It may throb for a few minutes. Then, it disappears. Forever. I assume just about everyone has that experience. (Jeez, I hope so.) Do we have a name for such a phenomenon, and, more important, is there an explanation of sorts? I gotta figure it’s some sort of minor neurological spasm someplace along the pathway, or even in the brain. Any help, dopers?
