# what are the weird things in the X-files opening montage?

When it says “paranormal activity” on the screen, there are what appear to be two fat, white-robed monks with elephant trunks that sort of spill out of them. It’s driven me nuts since the beginning, but I just caught a rerun on TV and was wondering what it actually is. Anyone?
