“Believe” came out in the 90s, which gets my vote. What a horrible song. ---

I’m not a particular fan of the band myself, and I certainly don’t think they’re so wonderful that everyone would love them regardless of how they felt about other early '90s alt-rock. What I don’t believe is that you saw the name of a not-that-famous band from a genre you never liked to begin with and instantly remembered their music – not grunge music in general, but the music of the Screaming Trees in particular – well enough to say that you “absolutely” didn’t like it. You were just saying you disliked every band **FoieGrasIsEvil** named, whether you actually remembered them or not. You may well have heard “Nearly Lost You” a few times on the radio when it was a modest hit way back in 1992, but I don’t buy that you saw the name the Screaming Trees here and thought “Oh yes, they’re the ones who did that song ‘Nearly Lost You’, which I vividly remember as one of the worst songs of the decade!” Most people who _liked_ grunge would have to stop and think about which of the lesser-known Seattle bands did “Nearly Lost You”. ---

This thread has been kicking around in my subconscious for a while. The question begs to answered. So many responses, so many bad songs. Mambo #5? An atrocity yes, but the worst of the decade? Then I had a revelation. A song so bad no other song could approach its awfulness without being obliterated in a good/anti-good explosion. The worst song of the '90s. Short Dick Man by 20 Fingers featuring Gillette. You’re welcome. ---
