I love animals. I feed birds and squirrels in the back yard and I enjoy watching them fly/twit/scamper. I also hate watching anything about animals being slaughtered, etc. I don’t like nature shows that show predation, though I’m a realist–"\ has little baby things too!" I still eat meat. So far I think I’m the worst here. Except for my friend that was a vegetarian back when that was odd. Me: But you have a leather coat and leather shoes? Her: Yes! \ I do that for my HEALTH! I saw her recently and talked about how my younger sister is working hard on becoming vegan. Her: Omg, how? Me: I thought you were a vegetarian? Her: Oh I couldn’t get enough protein. She lives in Marin county. What??? ---

Oof. ☹ Sorry to hear that, but I’m not sure that makes you a hypocrite. I’m surly a hypocritical person, but I think mostly I’m not cognizant of it, which is why it took me so long to think of this one… I have nothing against people who recreationally smoke pot. I think it’s fairly harmless (never having smoked it myself I’m not entirely sure. I DID see a car-full of youngsters billowing smoke like in a Cheech and Chong movie run a red light, then come to a FULL STOP on the other side of the intersection, so yes, I would apply the same ground rules that apply to alcohol.) In addition, as a pharmacy technician who is aware of the pill form of the “active ingredients” in marijuana [(Marinol)](http://www.drugs.com/mtm/marinol.html), in the four years I’ve worked in a hospital setting I’ve seen it prescribed exactly once; apparently it is not NEARLY as effective as when smoked. In this scenario, I’m not opposed to the idea of medical marijuana either. That having been said, I HATE the smell of it **so much** I would vote down any pot legalization bill proffered, no matter how benign. (Smoking only in the basement of your detached home during the Super Bowl, and not being allowed to leave the house until they showered three times.) The idea that I live in California, where tobacco smoking is considered the ultimate in uncouth behavior, the idea that we’re so close to legalizing this boggles my mind. ---

I dislike the consensus based elitist Dutch political establishment, but I hate the islamfobic straight talking populist maverick movement of Geert Wilders and Pim Fortuyn a lot more ---

There are 3 furry animals who live in my house. They enjoy my company, my affection, free food and health care. I’d go postal on anyone who tried to harm them. I spend a metric f-ton of money each year on a hunting lease, travel, deer feed, feeders, cameras, licenses, etc. so I can kill and eat a slightly different type of furry animal. I’m sure there’s hypocrisy in there somewhere. ---

When I say crush, I mean we have been flirtatious with each other, and I was having so much fun with it that even though I realized it was a bad idea I wasn’t willing to stop it. If I didn’t have high moral standards, I probably would have acted on it. I’m a Christian who believes marriage means being completely faithful to your spouse. That goes for her, and it would go for me if I was married. Bottom line is that I surprised myself with my actions, since I’m pretty well trained to not even think of married women as attractive. I’m friends with a lot of married women, and never even had a fleeting thought of hitting on them. And except for this one case, I never, ever would. ---

I had a fling with an engaged friend, and tried to woo her away for good; she was my first partner after my engagement ended when my fiancee had a fling, and after we had broken up, I rhetorically asked her if she thought it was a good idea to get into a relationship with a guy who had so little respect for her engagement. ---

I get irritated when people sneeze multiple times. Once wasn’t enough? Also coughing in the audience or on an airplane. Why can’t you stay home if you have a cold? Also people driving by me when I’m walking trying to listen to a podcast. Can’t you drive more softly? Also people saying “good” when responding to “how are you?” even though I’ve given up and “joined 'em” long ago. ---

I’m vegetarian, about 90% vegan, so you’d think I’d have some sympathy for other people with strange eating habits. However, I still think of raw foodists and fruitarians as complete wackos. ---

I think a vegan diet is the most ethical, yet I eat (organic) meat. I tried going vegetarian for over two years but I liked meat too much and was too lazy to start true vegetarian cooking all the time. I eat little meat though, and what I eat is about 60 % organic. ---

Whenever we’re at a place with a jukebox or DJ who takes requests, my friend wants to hear the same few songs every time. Although I don’t say anything to him, it does annoy me. Whenever I’m the one making the request, it’s invariably a Kesha song, and most jukeboxes and DJs only have five or six of those.
