For many years I stayed at home as well. This year Iā€™m going with friends to a dance at a place about three hours north of here. Even bought myself a slinky little number to wear. ---

Our usual NYE involves falling asleep in front of the TV before midnight. No party animals hereā€¦ But this year, we might go sit on our boat and watch the fireworks in downtown Jacksonville. Our marina is right next to where the fireworks barge usually sits. The caveat is that itā€™s supposed to be in the 20s and the boat is not heated, so I may talk hubby out of itā€¦ who knowsā€¦ \ how incredibly patheticā€¦ ---

What I _intend_ to do is return home from work on Friday evening and not leave my apartment til I have to go back to work Tuesday morning. Itā€™s not going to happen though. _sigh_ ---

Being the wild party animals that we are, hubby and I will probably just watch tv until midnight, do the midnight kiss thing, then crash. I will be working dayshift New Yearā€™s Day. ---

Hadnā€™t really thought about it. The whole season kinda snuck up on me. Probably either staying home, maybe having a glass of something stronger than milk to drink, saying ā€œHappy New Yearā€ and that being the end of it, or going to my brotherā€™s house, having a glass of something stronger than milk to drink, saying ā€œHappy New Yearā€ and that being the end of it. Or I might hop online and see if anyone else is as pathetic as I am and wants to chat for awhile. I guess Iā€™ll figure it out New Years Eve. Ya know, that just got me thinkingā€¦ even though I just got out of a 7 year relationship a couple months back, I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever spent New Years Eve with anyone in any special way. My b/f always had more important things to do that didnā€™t include me. So it was usually me & my best friend, getting together at my place, drinking somewhat heavily, and, if she was dating someone at the time, me trying hard not to listen to the noises coming from the other room after midnight. Now Iā€™m really depressed. _sigh_ TruePisces ---

Iā€™m goinā€™ out. I will be having dinner at this kick-a\*\* piano bar that SDMBer xploder introduced me to. I will be dining with xploder and Mrs. xploder. Then the Dueling Pianos show. Fun, fun, fun! My husband got a gig, so heā€™ll be working. He just got it a week ago, otherwise heā€™d be with us on New Yearā€™s. No, Iā€™m not going out with my husband. Iā€™m not going because I wonā€™t know anyone except him and I wonā€™t be able to socialize. If xploder hadnā€™t invited us out over a month ago, either both of us would be at home, or Iā€™d be home alone. ---

Will be trying to sleep in the downtown Philadelphia Marriott with chilluns bouncing on my head. Weā€™re getting up bright and early to watch the Mummerā€™s Parade on New Yearā€™s Day. Still trying to determine how to configure the 4 VCRā€™s in the house to capture the 24 hours of Iron Chef on FOOD TV while weā€™re gone. Which episode will reign supreme? ---

I was _planning_ on going to First Night with my best friend, but she wrecked her car the other day and we canā€™t take mine. So much for that. I _might_ hang out with said friend and another amiga at Amiga #2ā€™s house, but Iā€™m not sure. Iā€™ll probably end up sitting at home wishing I was in Texas with Justin. ---

Iā€™ll either spend it in the city with some friends, getting drunk, creating chaos etc, etc. OR, if that doesnā€™t happen, Iā€™ll sit at home depressed out of my mind, then watch the X-Files marathon. Thatā€™s actually the one thing that sounds like the best thing to do. ---

Since the wife made plans without me, Iā€™m either going to my hometown to hear my Aunt/Uncles band, or maybe stay in town and go to a Gentlemans club. Havenā€™t decided yet. ---

There are great fireworks on Sydney Harbour every year, a smaller show at 9 or 10 (so people with young children can drag them home after) and the grand production at 12. Every land and water vantage point round the harbour gets staked out early in the day. Pre child, a bunch of us whoā€™ve been friends since Uni (+20 years) and our partners used to go out on the Harbour on a friendā€™s boat, moor in a bay and watch the fireworks. Much food and alcohol would be consumed. Child, while much loved, has rather crimped the hedonistic lifestyle we had worked so hard to develop. So, this NYE will be at my new place 'cos we apparently have a view of most of the fireworks other than those actually on the face of the Bridge. It will involve a different set of friends (ie thems wot got kids). Much food but relatively little alcohol will be consumed. The evening will probably end after the early fireworks show so the kids can be taken home, though if the little dears actually go to sleep the adults may continue on. Actually, it is hard to grumble about sitting on the balcony, drink in hand, watching fireworks on a warm summer evening. Should be good. ---
