This year I’m giving out whatever is in the “Child’s Play” assortment from a four-pound bag I bought at the local drug store. It has tootsie rolls, little boxes of Dots, bits of taffy, etc. Last year I wasn’t expecting trick-or-treaters, and ended up getting quite a few. Luckily I had about a dozen of those mini boxes of raisins on hand, so I gave the kids those. Unfortunately, I ran out of raisins before I ran out of trick-or-treaters, so the last couple of kids got small tins of anchovies. I had to give them _something_, and I figured they wouldn’t notice until they got home anyway. ---

My family’s giving out those little 3 Musketeers, packs of M&Ms, and Smarties. Since I’m the one stuck at home eating the candy instead of handing it out, I got to pick. Heh. As for those 16 year olds without costumes, we never get any. A ton of people I know are dressing up and going trick-or-treating for the first time in 4 years. Don’t know why it’s so popular this year, but it is. jessica ---

Heheheh… My flatmate works as a pharmacist at CVS. When he first got his job, he was given a big box of those orange pill bottles- empty and unlabeled- to get rid of. He kept them. So, we’re filling all the bottles with altoids and handing them out to anyone who stops by… 😉 ---

Looney Tunes bags packed with Halloween stickers, orange pencils, ghost shaped erasers, pumpkin shaped bottles of bubbles, a Reese’s peanut butter pumpkin and a fuzzy snap bracelet. I am a big fan of after Halloween sales and stock up every year for the next year. Except the candy. I buy that fresh. ---

My girlfriend and I are going to tag team the big, dopey kids who are going trick or treating just because they are too cheap to go buy their own damn candy. We bought Snickers and Milky Ways for the cute lil’ twerps, which she’ll be handing out, and I will be hanging in her lil’ brother’s tree house ready to do my Flying Lemur attack on those dern high schoolers. ---

I bought Twix, Milky Ways, Baby Ruths and Butterfingers. We have some six-month old individually wrapped Lifesavers Creme Savers that I plan to give to any non-costumed teams that drop by. 😉 ---

I bought regular size candy bars of 100 Grand, Baby Ruth, Crunch, and Snickers. I had a lot of kids last year and I think we’ll still have quite a few. Hopefully not more than 64 otherwise I’ll have to dip into Mr. Grace’s stash of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. That’ll give us another 30. ---

. . .because the police departments around here seem to think it’s safer for the kids to trick or treat on a night that’s not the 31st. Go figure. Anywho, the kids in costume who came and shouted “Trick or treat!” got a handful of mini Hershey bars, Almond Joys, and/or Reese’s peanut butter products of various sorts. The kids in costume who didn’t ask got one piece of whatever I grabbed out of that bowl. The high school kids who didn’t bother with costumes and treated ToT night as an opportunity to extort confectionery from the townsfolk got, “No thanks, I don’t want to buy any candy tonight,” and a door slammed in their face. 😃 Zap! ---

i have a giant bowl filled with ‘werthier’s original’ and mini-KitKatts. anyone who comes by gets as much as they can grab with a double swoop from both their grubby little hands. since i expect about six people total, i essentially got myself a big bowl of ‘werthier’s original’ and mini-KitKatts. ---

I’m a Hallowe’en Scrooge this year. After work I’m going to buy my week’s comics, then go skate for an hour, then meet some friends at a bar in Virginia-Highlands. This is the sort of thing I do every Wednesday, but this week I’ll stay out until at least ten p.m. so I know the trick-or-treating will be done when I get home. Am I a bad person? ---

Hot dogs. Grilled hot dogs. No bun though. They have to settle for white bread. With their choice of ketchup, mustard or both. Or plain, they can have a plain grilled hot dog wrapped in white bread if they want. (The Little Woman made me get a couple of bags of Fun Sized candy bars, too. But I’m not telling anyone about that. I got 'em from Sam’s Club, so when you pick up these couple of bags of Fun Sized candy bars, you go “errnph”.) My brother is coming over too. We’ll sit in the driveway listening to classical music and give out hot dogs. I can’t wait. -Rue. ---

Well, around this area, a slow night is 80 trick or treaters, with the highest record being 200 a couple of years ago. A quick look in my bag reveals Oh Henry’s, Twizzlers, lollipops, Halloween Kisses, Reeses, Hawaiian Punch something, and Glossettes. I hope I have enough! I don’t think I do. Last year we spent at least $80, but this year I think I’ve only spent $30 so far. ---

Alas, no **carnivorousplant** , not kosher. But they are real good hot dogs. Kahn’s hot dogs. (Which means nothing to most Dopers. But it reminds me of a story. The Reds wanted a dome put on the stadium (before they got a new one) and the only sponser they could find was a local meatpacker.
