Cripes, I dunno. Last year I gave up the internet. This year maybe I’ll just offer up my sleeplessness, because of having a tiny baby. Or try to do daily prayer and scripture readings. I’ll have to think about it. ---

Oich, already? My standard answer is always desert & sweets, but what I should really do is commit to daily prayer (thanks for the example, **Lissla Lissar** ). It’s much harder when things are going well in your life. It’s a wonder God doesn’t think I’m such an annoying mooch, only showing up when i want/need something… ---

I’m giving up junk food. Maybe I’ll allow myself some pretzels occasionally, but I’m going to try to cut out potato chips, Doritos, candy bars, and stuff like that. ---

I’m no longer a practicing Catholic, yet every year I feel vaguely guilty about not giving up anything for Lent. Go figure. I think this year I’ll try to attend church every Sunday during Lent. More for the principle of the thing than anything else (I am sorely lacking in self-discipline). Besides, I like going to church - pretty pictures, beautiful music, and for the most part, thought-provoking lectures. ---
