KCUV radio here in Denver; the last five songs: Bob Dylan - I Want You Robert Earl Keen - For Love Jack Johnson - Flake Little Feat - Willin’ Robert Cray Band - Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark I love KCUV. I’ve bought eight or 10 CDs in recent months because of new artists (and artists that are new to me) I’ve heard on the station. Some local stuff: Sydney bands [Faker](http://www.faker.com.au/), who have had an album and some great singles out for a while, and [Van She](http://www.myspace.com/vanshe), whose debut EP I just picked up today. Also Melbourne band [Moscow Schoolboy](http://www.myspace.com/moscowschoolboy). I’m also giving The Flaming Lips’ _At War With The Mystics_ a good thrashing, as well as Belle & Sebastian’s _The Life Pursuit_ (which I’m a bit addicted to), and We Are Scientists’ _With Love And Squalor_. And having been in love with Antony & The Johnson’s _I Am A Bird Now_ for a while, I’ve just started listening to their first album, which is just as amazing. ---

I’ve been listening to two particular albums a lot lately: Amberhawke–“Made Behind the Bar” album (especially “The Hills of Connemara” and “Rambling Rover”) Corsairs–“The Gold One” album Amberhawke is Irish trad with a twist (Amber is from Trinidad, and thinks bagpipes and steel drums go splendidly together), and the Corsairs are an _a cappella_ group that does sea shanties and pirate songs. I may a bit odd, but I’m never at a loss for a drinking song. 🙂 ---

I’ve been listening to They Might Be Giants a lot lately. I’m between apartments, so my stereo equipment is in storage. The only place I can listen to music is on the net and on my car CD player. On a recent trip across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, I listened to several albums of theirs several times: _Apollo 18 Factory Showroom They Got Lost Dial-a-Song (anthology) Venue Songs_ The _Venue Songs_ CD comes with the DVD, which has videos for their venue songs. The venue songs were written during their 2004 tour. They wrote a song to celebrate each venue they played in, and the best ones they did studio versions of and made videos for. I wouldn’t recommend this one for the casual fan; it’s probably better suited to hardcore They Might Be Giants fans like myself. You can’t buy the venue songs in stores, so says their web site, but [you can buy them on their website](http://www.theymightbegiants.com/) I’ve also been listening to their clock radio, which you can download from [this site](http://www.tmbg.com). I also listened to The Sundays’ album _Reading, Writing and Arithmetic_, too, which I haven’t played in years. Love that Harriet Wheeler’s voice. I’ve been missing it, especially the first side. (I originally owned this one on vinyl, so I think of it in terms of sides. If you don’t know what this is, ask your parents. Or grandparents. They’ll probably remember.) ---
