The song that’s been turning me on the most lately is “Heard the World” by\*\* O.A.R.\*\* The album and band I’ve been digging most is Humanimals by **Grand Ole Party**. I’ve been in love with them since Bonnaroo this past June. What I’m actually listening to right now is track 163 in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, which is “Bohemian Rhapsody” by **Queen**. ---

For me, it’s the Baseball Project’s _Volume 1: Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails_. I also still can’t get enough of Portishead’s latest album. ---

I find this hilarious, because it was _exactly_ my reaction to Fleet Foxes. “I should really like this,” I thought, “But I really don’t.” I’ve been listening to Lady Gaga’s _The Fame_ almost non-stop for about three weeks now. Fantastic record. This is what Madonna and Kylie’s latest albums should have been. I hope Gaga becomes huge in spite of Christina Aguillera blatantly stealing from her. Just downloaded _Dedication 3_ the other day. I’ve only listened to it once so far, but I like it okay. On my first listen I don’t like it as much as _Da Drought 3_, but who knows. An album that I’m having a hard time getting through for some reason is _Murs For President_. I really don’t get it. I like Murs a lot, and I don’t _dislike_ the portion of the album I’ve listened to, but it’s just not doing a lot for me. I think I’m just going to have to be in the right mood to really get into it. I’ll probably pick up Beyonce’s latest this weekend, because I’ve been listening to “If I Were a Boy” and “Put a Ring On It” a lot. ---

(Oh, and I guess I should say what I’ve been listening to, but it’s mostly older stuff. Been relistening to Ritual de lo Habitual by Jane’s Addiction, early/mid-era Sonic Youth for my rock fix; Lenka, Anna Nalick, and Sara Barreilles for my poppy female singer-sogwriter fix (a genre I dig like cotton candy and can never really talk about)). ---

I’ve been listening to the soothing, silvery medieval chanting of The Anonymous 4 in their CD called _Love’s Illusion_. In fact, this reminds me that I’d like to order up a few more of their CDs as gifts this Christmas. ---

Animal Collective has just dominated my ears since February. I liked them before, but then things just took off. I’m not exagerrating when I say that I doubt 5 days have passed since March 1 where I haven’t listened to at least one of their albums (so long as you include Panda Bear’s “Person Pitch”). I just can’t get over them. New stuff, old, or in between, and live or studio, it doesn’t matter. I’ve yet to hear something from them that I’d rank below an A-. ---

I listened to a leaked copy of a few of the songs off the new album, and they are sublime. I promptly deleted them because I didn’t want to get too attached to anything that wasn’t the final product 🙂 And if you liked Person Pitch (which you should!), check out El Guincho’s album Alegranza. Same vibe, more of a latin influence. Very good. ---

Just finishing Dylan Bootleg 8 which I got for my birthday. The other musical thing that I got was Mike Oldfield’s Millennium Bell concert in Berlin New Years Eve 2000. Then back to Beethoven piano concertos and symphonies not conducted by Bernstein - those I went through already. ---
