In a book called “The Emotional Energy Factor” by Mira Kirshenbaum, the author claims that you’ll get more emotional energy if you have something to look forward to. So, I was hoping to get ideas from you all about what kinds of things people look forward to. So, what are you looking forward to? ---

Graduation in April, and a commencement speech by freakin’ Bill Clinton. I won’t even know what to do with myself on that day. I’ve bled for this degree. I’ve never worked harder for anything. I’ve never faced more fears or overcome more obstacles in the interest of achieving this goal. Every day I wake up and do it, it hurts. I hurt every day for this, in the interest of this… and I’m almost there. ---

I’m looking forward to the HBO series, “The Tudors.” For years I’ve wished for a new movie or series based on this time period because I think that if it’s done right, it could be amazing. Not only does the plot have all of the juicy elemenbts of greed, lust, murder and betrayal, but the costumes and sets could be visually arresting. ---

Having what I’m pretty sure is undiagnosed depression, I’ve found that having these mini-goals to look forward to can be very uplifting. Right now, I’m looking forward to how my game of Diplomacy goes. (see the threat in IMHO) I’m looking forward to getting my new World of Warcraft character back up to 60 so I can play with my friends again. (I ebayed my first account a few months ago) I’m looking foward to a career fair next week in the off chance I can get a better job. I’m looking forward to starting my 2nd bachelors degree this summer at Michigan State University. I love computers, so I’m going for computer science. I’m looking forward to getting the next Discworld book I have on order at Barnes and Noble. I could go on, you get the idea. ---

Two things: 1. After a week of extreme pain (TMI ruptured ovarian cyst), I am hoping to load up on painkillers and actually get out of the house tomorrow for an hour with hubby and daughter: coffee and a snack at the best bakery around here, then hitting the Lego store. 2. Going back to school (art school no less!) it’s at least 6 months to a year away, but I am so excited!! ---

Looking forward to Spring quarter ending and possibly getting an internship with the DoJ _crosses fingers_. Oh and **Olives**? I’m so jealous! Pres. Clinton came to give a speech at my university last fall and it was truly awesome. I’ve never seen so many people squeezed into such a small space - it was worse than a huge rock concert and almost (OK, twice) as electric! ---

Theres always something to look forward to: I’m looking forward to this evening, beacuse its sunday, and it is always something special for dinner at sundays in the house. I’m looking forward to the Easter holidays because its the best time of year going diving and there will be a week full of cooking fresh seafood I’m looking forward to the 21 July, because the next Harry Potter book will be published. ---

I’m looking forward to the day when I can put together a syndicated radio show on old music. I’ve collected these 50,000+ songs for _something_, that may as well be it. I want to demonstrate the links between the music that is and the music that was. I’d play all kinds of obscurities and songs that haven’t been on the radio since they were new, if at all. It would be the kind of show where you’d be able to hear the bonus tracks that come on box sets, and stuff like that. One of these days… ---

I’m looking forward to going back to England in May. I haven’t been there in 5 years, and I’m taking a coach tour of literary homes and such this time. I had been planning to do this for awhile, but since I’ve just paid my deposit for the tour and will get my plane tickets within the next week, now it’s really going to happen and I’m started to get excited about it and thinking about packing even though it’s still months off. ---

David Campbell at Star City next Sunday. The new Rugby League season (I hope to get to do some stuff with an NRL team). The cricket World Cup. Another year of movies. My son filling me in on his first year at university. Doing something cool with the band I am working with. The “boys” road trip to South Australia in April to visit an old school friend. The response I will get when I fix up a friend’s website. More sex. Heaps of stuff. ---

These days, I tend to look forward to work projects, because I never know what interesting stuff I’ll find. Right now, I’m looking forward to a couple of upcoming out-of-town trips – a weekend one to South Waikato, here on the North Island, and a bigger one for a week to the South Island (museums, staying in an old hotel/pub, trains, trams … stuff that they’ll have to drag me away from kicking and screaming.) 🙂 Then there’s getting newsletters and historical journals edited and produced, and sending them out ( have a readership that looks forward to them too.) I look forward to a new day dawning, each day, essentially. Vast deal of difference from where I was about 6 years ago now, wishing I’d died in the night each morning that I woke. Life, now, is cool. 🙂 ---

My daughter’s wedding in August. Trip to China next year to see a total solar eclipse. The coming of spring in another month. Seeing one of my best friends this afternoon as we celebrate her dog’s birthday (hey, any excuse…). My income tax refund (hopefully soon, after I get the replacement W2 for the one my dear husband lost). My great-niece’s wedding this coming weekend in Arizona. In addition to celebrating the wedding, we’ll be WARM!!! ---
