Studying. Jeez, I hate it. I guess it’s all about subject matter. “A Short History of Nearly Everything” is in its third reading, but “Compliance and The Compliance Function in Banks” makes my eyes glaze over and hasn’t made it past the first chapter. And it’s been three months, and I write in January. ---

Showering, walking over to the church across the street and seeing if it would be cool by them if my family used a bit of their parking lot on Christmas, finishing wrapping Christmas presents for my brothers, packing up shipping boxes for Christmas presents for my brothers, going to the post office and mailing said presents. 'Eh…I don’t start work until noon today, so I’ve got over three hours to do all that. I’ll start later. ---

Wrapping the pile of gifts on the bed. Calling a friend to do lunch since we’ve both got the day off and our kids are in school. Going shopping. Ransacking my bedroom for the 2 gifts I bought that arrived the other day but have evaporated. Showering (aren’t you glad I’m here and you aren’t??? ) ---

Working out. I worked last night and my sleep was interrupted by four phone calls, so I slept erratically and a few hours longer than normal, and now I’m trying to explain to my protesting body that what it really needs is to lift some weights for an hour straight. It’s not buying it. ---

I’m putting off going to buy wine and champagne for Christmas dinner and New Year’s Eve. I live in a dry town, so I have to drive to an adjacent town to get to a liquor store, and I’m dreading the traffic. ---

I should be changing the sheets, making food for tomorrow’s party, and sweeping and vacuuming. I acutally have a pretty good excuse- I’m not supposed to wash any of the dishes (Mr. Lissar says he’ll do them) and the kitchen is unusable due to messiness. And he’s still asleep, so I can’t change the sheets or vacuum right next to him. ---

Cleaning up after last night’s dinner party. The dining room (and, frankly, the whole house) still smells like Raclette, and I just don’t want to face those piles of dishes. I also need to wrap presents today, since we have parties starting tomorrow and I won’t have time to do it later. Oh, and I need to eat something. I’m hungry, but I just don’t want to go to the kitchen 😛 ---

I need to clean the dust off the entertainment center, the bathroom shelves, and some of the bookshelves. I need to make some payments. (They are not overdue, however.) But since the last couple of weeks were filled with giving and grading finals, reading placement tests, dealing with a broken TV and a malfunctioning fridge, and recovering from strep throat, I think I’m entitled to some leeway. 😉 ---

Tidying up for tonight’s family party here at my place. I don’t bother worrying about actual cleaning, since it’s just family they can deal with my dust. If they’re bothered by it, they’re more than welcome to host instead of me always having to do so. Assembling a dessert for tonight, as well as a few yummy dips. Everything else’s ready, just have to get myself into the kitchen and get it done. Running to the store for a few bobbles to wrap, since one of my sisters just informed me that she’s invited her neighbor and two kids over tonight. Sure, of course I don’t mind, but I’m not going to let two young children sit here amidst the unwrapping glee and be giftless so I guess I’m going back out there shopping. ---

Surprisingly enough, the only thing I’m putting off is showering and brushing my teeth. I was supposed to work today but a coworker switched with me. So - no work! I was supposed to clean the living room today - Done! I was supposed to make a beef soup - Done! I was supposed to make my boyfriend make chili - Done! I was supposed to make a peppermint trifle - Done! I was supposed to wrap the last few gifts - Done! Laundry - In progress It’s too early to start assembling the lunch meat platter for my family (they come tonight). I’ll start that around 4:00. The boyfriend and I have to go to his parents’ house tonight before my parents get here - because his brother is an asshole. But, his brother wont be there until probably when it is most inconvenient for us. My family will arrive around 5:00. He will call us and let us know he’s at the parents’ house, oh, sometime around 4:45. That’s what he considers early afternoon. Jerk. He couldn’t possibly let us know any earlier than December 23, that he is changing around all the holiday plans his family have followed for his entire damn life. He couldn’t possibly think that MAYBE someone else has plans on Christmas Eve and him changing everything at the last minute makes things more difficult for the only 3 people who actually have to travel today (those 3 being my family). He is a total and complete…I’ve got to stop this. Come on girl, where’s that Christmas spirit? :mad: :mad: :mad: ☹☹☹ :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :smack: 😉😉😉😃 ---

The nice thing about being a Jewish agnostic at this time of year is that one can pick and choose one’s obligations; everything I’m procrastinating on is an obligation of my own making. At the moment: Bathing/dressing Taking the bittersweet chocolate ganache out of the fridge, so it can soften before I spread it on the already-baked cake for tonight’s party Washing the umpteenth sinkful of dishes (great cake recipe, but it seems to use every pot I have, which is a LOT of pots) Washing the floors General straightening-up ---
