I’m tired of people (two people I know in particular) bitching because they don’t like to work for a living. Every place they’ve ever worked, there’s a problem with their boss/co-workers/underlings. They don’t like the commute. They’re underpaid. They want to quit. Sometimes, they do quit and with no other job lined up. GET A CLUE! Most people don’t like working! We’d all like to be supported by others, but most of us aren’t willing to burden our relatives! Once you’re past the age of pimples, it’s time to grow up and deal! ---

Women complaining about their menstral discomfort (it happens more than you might think 🙂 ) We all get our periods, we’ve all experienced the unpleasant physical and emotional side effects. You’re not the first to have an unusually heavy flow or whatever (if you have to change your pad every hour, go the fuck to a doctor. Even then, I don’t want to hear about it). It’s a natural albeit sometimes inconvenient/uncomfortable process that all women have been going through since the dawn of time. You’re not special, nobody cares, so shut the hell up already. ---

People who claim about having no money. People get paid for doing something, so decide what you are willing to do and find someone who is willing to pay you to do it. Anyone who claims about other people having money. The head of the NYC transit union complained about “a billionaire calling us a bunch of thugs.” I’m hardly a supertor of Mayor Bloomberg, but nobody handed him a dime.I know someone on welfare who writes to every lottery winner asking them to buy her a house (really!). ---

There’s the **rant against the doddering masses** , you know, the sort of masses that are too unintelligent, too uncreative to appreciate “real life” because they, God (oops! Did I say “God”? I meant “Og”! Really, I did! Don’t ban me!) forbid, shop at Wal-Mart, eat at McDonalds, watch soap operas, and drive SUV’s. This attitude is just all over the SDMB, all coming from a group of people who bizarrely feel superior because they shop at Target, eat at Panera’s, watch _Buffy_, and drive Volvos… who themselves are considered part of the “doddering masses” by those of us who shop at the local hand-me-down store, eat at the local vegetarian pizza place, have a broken TV, and whom take the subway (or, best, ride their bike everywhere). Whatever. :dubious: ---

Music. It’s a matter of taste, people. Some are going to like pop, some are going to like rock, some are going to like rap, etc. etc. What one person considers “crap” will be exactly to another’s tastes, and there’s nothing wrong with either person for what they like or don’t like. If you’re in a position (driver of the car, owner of the stereo) to change it to what you like, fine. If you aren’t, don’t just stand around and complain about it, especially within earshot of plenty of people you might be insulting. Isn’t it enough to get enjoyment out of what’s to your taste without feeling the need to justify it by trashing everyone else’s preference? ---

I hate, hate, hate listening to women bitch about the men in their life because the men can’t read their minds. I really can’t stand listening to graduate instructors bitch about how “stupid” students are. If students don’t know something - it’s your job to teach them how to do it. Not to beat the dead horse that is ‘the weather’, but specifically, those who complain about snow. In winter. Look- unless you’re in equatorial Africa or some such climate, it snows in winter. Always has, always will. Brace yourself, buy a f’in shovel and some good boots, and deal with it. Those who complain about their spouse. Listen- I’m sorry you have such a terrible home life, and your wife/husband is a scumbucket, slut, jackass, lazy oaf, moron, golddigger, idiot or waste of space in other ways, but I really don’t want to hear about it. It makes me uncomfortable and instead of telling me, discuss it with them, maybe? ---

People who piss and moan about this board, it’s never ending “decline”, it’s speed, new users who ask “stupid” questions, draconian moderation, etc. It is what it is, and it’s the best it can be. Lots of people give a lot of free time up to make the Dope what it is, and do all that they can muster to make it better. Yes, there are times that some of the bitching is justified, but not to the extent that I feel I see it. The line to kick my ass starts to the left. 😃 ---
