Iā€™m surprised and grateful for this thread. I tend to associate ā€œhigh schoolā€ films with either light comedy, romance angst, or car chases. Iā€™m glad to be reminded of two things. The first is that even within these three types, there are some really outstanding films. Secondly, that my three typecast mental pictures are just a pile of crap. My three: _Ferris Beuller Risky Business Stand and Deliver/Hoosiers_ a tie šŸ˜‰ for plucking at the old heartstrings. To bring up another film that seemingly only I and 3 other prople saw, _Dick_ ā€“ starring Kirstin Dunst as a dizzy highschool kid who untimately brings down the Nixon presidency. Very, very clever script, something of a mix of _Clueless_ and _Forrest Gump_ Also, if you can accept the _Thunderdome_ as a highschool, I would like to nominate the 3rd _Mad Max_ film as best post-apocalyptic car chase highschool film. ---

Iā€™ve also seen Dick. Hmmā€¦ Only three? I like a lot of these mentioned so far. Iā€™ll add Porkyā€™s to the list. Itā€™s so bad! (I just looked at my Porkyā€™s DVD. Turns out I wasnā€™t even born yet when it was releasedā€¦) Itā€™s too bad Revenge of the Nerds wasnā€™t a high school movie, because that one would top my list. I havenā€™t seen the Breakfast Club (well, like 20 minutes or so when it played on cable), Sixteen Candles, or Fast Times. Would Cruel Intentions count? I probably wouldnā€™t put it on my list, but I noticed it while scanning my DVD collection. The characters are high schoolers, but itā€™s not set _in_ a high school. Anyway, so Porkyā€™s. Iā€™m really close to putting Grease on my list, but Iā€™d be too ashamed. Umm, oops. šŸ˜‰ Itā€™s just too hard limiting myself to only three movies. I think Iā€™ll have to consider this and come back later. Thanks a lot, OP, you could have at least said **five**. šŸ˜› ---
