People that post about their “amazing” jobs/interviews/etc.

Just got out of school. I’m working a decent job, but nothing at a career level.

There are a handful of people that post nothing but “Omg, interview went gr8! pay is awesome! lol!1on1!” shit every. single. day.

Or the person that posts “lol had a gr8 office party today, thanks Jim for the paperweight!1!1” every hour while at work.

We get it. You love your jobs.

Sure, I guess I’m being slightly bitter, but you get the impression that some of these people are just SO self-absorbed that they feel like letting everyone else know how amazing their life or job is constantly.

People who post unoriginal religious glurge. At least my religious rantings on Facebook are my actual compositions. And I never send or support “Post this if you’re not afraid to stand up for Jesus/America/Motherhood/Babies” crap.

Also, the “For every time you curse at your woman, there’s a man who’s complimenting her…” jabber. It’s totally counter-productive! If I were an abuser, my first thought would be “I knew the bitch was cheating on me!”

I really am bored by the “Likes” for certain subjects that people are interested in.

Hank “Likes” cheesburgers. Really?

Susie “Likes” AM PM Mini Mart. Wow.

Bob “Likes” Sleeping In Late. You’re a rebel.

People posting song lyrics. Posting something someone else wrote is not deep or entertaining. It makes you look like you can’t be creative by yourself. Also:

I think it was in the cooking discussion. If I had an account I’d post about what I was cooking pretty often, I think - glad to hear it’s not universally hated.

Oh yes, I hate slacktivism posting with a passion, too. “Raising awareness?!” WTFever, how about donating some money or time instead of that bullshit.

I’m in grad school, and everyone in my program is to the left of Leon Trotsky. They post non-stop about political crap, but in a really contentious way. Like, “I hope someone shoots Stephen Harper in the face - 17 people like this status.” Every bowel movement of Noam Chomsky’s has been uploaded to Facebook. And any attempt to engage them, even in a respectful way, results in a complete shit storm.

I can only assume that right-wing partisans are equally contentious and obnoxious, but I’ve yet to see them on my Facebook.

I have this one cousin who is the epitome of the stereotypical Facebook glurge poster. Sticky sweet religious posts and “Repost this if…” posts. I’ve been really close to hiding her posts permenantly.

A few weeks ago, she posted the following:

> [@](#):
>
> If you know or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. People need to understand that stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a stupid person right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity… But we can raise awareness! 93% won’t repost this because they don’t know how to copy and paste!!! 😉

I couldn’t help myself. I responded with this:‎

> [@](#):
>
> …and the other 7% won’t repost it because its stupid.

For some strange reason, she didn’t appreciate the humor in that.

Jeez. I wonder why?

Wow. Share too much and you’re “annoying;” share too little and you’re “creepy.”

Here’s my pet peeve: demanding people who are hard to please and who write passive-aggressive artlcles for CNN.

I dislike angry political rants. Mind you, I don’t have a problem with people who make political comments. However, when they start talking about how stupid liberals or conservatives are, then that aggravates me. Same thing when they start posting otherwise angry political comments. I understand that they’re just venting, but I think that these sentiments should be best conveyed in a dispassionate manner – especially when it comes to touchy political issues,

Ditto for angry anti-religious rants. Okay, so you think that theists are stupid, and you’re entitled to that viewpoint. If you want to express that on Facebook though, would it not be better to adopt a civil and dispassionate tone instead of basically foaming at the mouth?

Kinda like what I said earlier. I don’t have a problem with expressing political viewpoints, and I even acknowledge people’s rights to express anti-religious views. For pity’s sake though, please try to keep it reasonably non-contentious.

Wow. You guys have taken all the big ones. I guess I’m left with what happened recently: someone sent a message to all her Facebook friend because she wants to send them graduation invites. That’s fine, although a note would work better. But then all the other people use the reply all button, so now I have all these addresses of the friends of an 18 year old girl.

The annoyance isn’t the people, though–it’s that the only button Facebook gives is a Reply All button, so of course people are going to hit it.

Another annoyance I just thought of is the constant upgrades that reset the security settings. They seem to be less common now, but those were very annoying, and the reason I don’t trust the place with any extra info.

Especially true on Facebook where unlike SDMB or other message boards you don’t have the space for a full fledged argument. Plus, one way SDMB has spoiled me is that I forget most people don’t have a clue what you mean when post

People who inform everyone they’re going to delete some of their friends list. Oooh, shall we all beg for the honour of being left on?

People who join groups like ‘I was born in the UK…so why the FUCK do I have less rights than immigrants?’ Maybe because despite the privilege of a first-world education you don’t know the difference between ‘less’ and ‘fewer’.

I just saw another one: They now autocrop profile pic for your avatar. You can crop it, but it only crops for the main profile. And the new photo overlay isn’t winning any awards either.

Man, it’s so nice when your biggest peeve is not the people, but the software.
