# What are your Boycotts for 2006?

In order of buying preference: US/Canadian, European and Aussie. I try my best to avoid made in china.

The only boycotts I have going on that I can think of are Nancy Giles on the CBS Sunday Morning show, and the Houston Chronicle.
Giles is a raving idiot and I change channels whenever they have her demented ass on. And the Chronicle is such an incredibly bad newpaper that I’m astonished that they are still in business, even if they are the only newspaper in town.

As he is no longer involved with Domino’s, I don’t see the point, but whatever.

Total and continuing boycotts: WalMart, Domino’s, McDonalds and most other chain fast food places, Pizza Hut (95% crust is NOT pizza), and Home Depot (mainly because I live behind one and it took months of calls and letters to the police and city hall to get HD to shut the fuck up at night and let our neighborhood sleep), veal.
Reduced visits but not totally boycotted: Best Buy, Blockbuster, Starbucks. (I know, I know.)
Non-boycotts: In N Out, Trader Joe’s, Bed Bath & Beyond.

I’m boycotting threads about boycotting.
Damn!
Well, since I’m here…
Continuing boycotts:
Walmart ~3 years
McDonalds ~6 years
Alton’s Tire Stores ~6 years (local chain in the Pac NW)
Exxon ~13 years
Jiffy Lube ~2 years
Ticketmaster ~8 years
Disney ~4 years (the hardest one, they’re everywhere. Haven’t seen Narnia because of it, but I do cheat a little and watch the Sunday night football games on ESPN… does that count?)
Ended boycotts:
Target ~3 years (The no solicitors thing makes me happy and I’ll end my boycott to show my support of their decision)
New boycotts:
I’d like to say anything not Fair Trade (or is it Free Trade?), but it’s not even an option 'round these parts. The chain grocery stores have a chokehold on the market and they sell what they want to sell, leaving me with no choice but buy what they sell, or to starve… and I’m just not that ghung-ho about it.

Just one true boycott, but it’s a long-lasting one:
The **Godfather’s Pizza** chain.
Ten years or so ago, they accidentially gave away my family’s order to another customer, and didn’t tell us this until several hours later.
Since then, I have not eaten any of their pizza, and, when their CEO at the time ran for Senate last year, I donated money to no fewer that five of his opponents.

I don’t really boycott anything. There are stores and products I avoid such as Herbal Essence (orgasmic shampoo?) - but I wouldn’t call it a boycott.

Er, wow.
I don’t really have any boycotts. I support a couple of companies over others (local/regional businesses ie Wawa back in Jersey and Proctor and Gamble here in Cincinnati), but no boycotts.

I’d boycott Wal-Mart but I work there :(. Actually, ours isn’t so bad. I live in a fairly small town with a low ratio of dumpy/trashy/nasty people, and the store is kept really clean.
I’m keeping up my boycott on beef and pork. I’m working on chicken but it’s not going so well.
Fur. I won’t buy anything made with fur. Or leather. Basically I don’t want dead animal skin on or under me.
That’s about it for my 2006 boycotts. I didn’t really think of them as boycotts until this thread, because they’re pretty much just my personal choices.

Great Clips barber shops. Just before Thanksgiving, I watched in horror as the barber took a swipe through my crown with the clippers, leaving less than 1/4" of hair. At that point, I had no alternative but to let her even it out, this after telling her that I didn’t want much off the top. So for over a month I looked like… like _a Republican!_ I wrote to the manager and received (get this) a coupon for a free haircut!
