# What are your Boycotts for 2006?

Maybe so, but you wouldn’t think so if Target’s store policy were that pharmacists couldn’t fill morning-after pills. At least, I wouldn’t.

As a former retail slave I can understand why they bombarded you with closing warnings. At one job closing was announced an hour before hand, then 30 minutes before, then 15, then 10, then 5, then at closing, then a 5 minute after closing “no seriously, get the eff out.” At another closing was announced at the 15, the 5, then at closing, then a “get the eff out” 5 minutes afterwards. Guess which store had more idiots wandering around at 10 minutes after. Some people just need extra warnings. That cashier should have been disciplined though.

Expanding on why I think Sprint is a pack of lying thugs:
I got a call asking me to switch to Sprint. I asked for the rate to England, as my now-husband was my then-boyfriend living in England and we talked daily, often for hours. I was told the rate was 5 cents per minute. Terrific. Sign me up. I then get a bill for over $900, as the rate was over a dollar. I complained, they said I hadn’t signed up for the International Plan, and anyway, they didn’t offer a 5 cent rate, it was 8 or 9 cents. So the woman who had called me had a) lied and b) signed me up for the wrong plan. They evenually “forgave” about half the amount, and in the end I paid almost $500 to preserve my credit.
I am convinced the woman who called lied to me to get me to sign up–it wouldn’t surprise me if they have quotas or bonuses that encourage that kind of behavior. It was all verbal (they denied having a tape), so it was my word against theirs. I think she probably just forgot or made a mistake about the international plan, but who knows? I have run across several people who were also told misleading rates by Sprint. IMHO, they are a dishonest company.

I had nearly the [same thing happen](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=5655859&postcount=12) but with my mobile phone. I finally moved over to Cingular.

I had no idea about Nestle, thanks for the heads up. They just lost my business as well.
Sadly, the more I read this thread, the more I realize that at one point in time or another I’m going to have to become completely self-sufficient so as to maintain all my boycotts.

Funny, Sprint is just about the only wireless company my family hasn’t had problems with. I can believe they’re disingenuous asses, though…just to other people, I guess, or not yet us.
I also had no idea about Nestle, but yeah, they’ve lost my business too. My mother was intimately familiar with the case; apparently it had a lot of exposure in the early 80s. The fact that neither **soulmurk** nor I had any clue about it probably belies our ages.
