> The September 1971 issue had a fold-out board game called “Feds And Heads,” created by underground cartoonist Gilbert Shelton and featuring his Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and their cohorts. To win, you needed to score 35 kilos of “grass.”
>
> I remember tearing it out and playing it with my aunt and my grandmother (they loved board games), sometime around 1974, and the looks of horror on their faces.

“State Street…that graight street!” 😃

I still have mine, laminated and mounted on a piece of fiberboard.

My favorite issue–don’t remember the year/month–had a playmate who looked (to me) exactly like Diana Rigg.

[November, 1976](https://images.contentful.com/ogz4nxetbde6/2DZdGQyQr2oGsCe4WCcCw2/abeaa3801434a362bda10d641781c52f/1976_11_Cover.jpg?h=650&fm=jpg&fit=scale&fl=progressive). Not only for Patti Mcquire but also the Carter interview, and the Sex in Cinema feature was good too. I was just 16 when it came out.

I don’t remember what was inside, but I remember [THIS](https://images.contentful.com/ogz4nxetbde6/4bfO8TRTOUKoKuUCaskEww/532321d01c7a543d0b0f5ce17d330c5d/1975_07_Cover_Censored_w1.jpg?h=650&fm=jpg&fit=scale&fl=progressive) cover.

Anyone spot the hidden suggestions of her pose? Subliminal messages were a big item in the 70’s.

> In one of the Anniversary issues, I was struck by something.
> Look at photos of Ursula Andress, from the time when she was married to John Derek.
> Look at photos of Linda Evans, from the time when she was married to John Derek.
> Look at photos of Bo Derek, from the time when she was married to John Derek.
> He married the same woman three times!

Well, especially in the case of Bo, I think that might’ve been due to some man-made intervention.

Getting back to the topic, I can’t really say it’s my favorite, but the cover the March 1973 issue did seem to have an impact on me at the time even though I wasn’t old enough to realize it.

Dad had a small stack of Playboys that I would…um…stumble upon now and then. One pictorial that really made an impression was the spread on **A Clockwork Orange**. Now, my teenaged mind didn’t know Kubrick from Khruschchev, but I was quite intrigued.

The Google Machine tells me this was the January 1972 issue.
mmm

This reminded me, there was also a wonderful interview with Wendy Carlos that went into depth on the scoring of “A Clockwork Orange” and other works, her use of the Moog, her transition during filming. I just looked it up, it was 16 pages long!

I came here to say, Dec 88. I came across this one in the early 2000s when an apartment I was renting had a whole stack of back issues.
