What are your favorite songs that begin with the letter A and were released on or after January 1, 2000? See rules in OP [Final Poll Added]

Please remember the year next time.

(I like them too)

mmm

Wow, I know a half-dozen songs that have already been nominated!

Here’s my additions:

Amsterdam - Guster (2003)
All the Things I’ve Done - The Killers (2004)
All About That Bass - Meghan Trainor (2014)
Angela - The Lumineers (2016)
Adore - Amy Shark (2016)

Aime-Moi Plus Fort Perle Lama (2007) A nice sensual zouk Perle Lama - Aime Moi Plus Fort (Clip Officiel) (youtube.com)

Ahora Quien Marc Anthony (2004) Salsa version Marc Anthony - Ahora Quien (Salsa Version) (youtube.com)

Ahora Soy Yo Eddy Herrera (2011) Fun merengue Eddy Herrera - AHORA SOY YO - VIDEO OFICIAL (youtube.com)

Please replace
Animal Spirits - Vulfpeck
with
Animal Spirits - Vulfpeck (2016)

Ha ha, already done.
mm

According to You – Orianthi (2010)
Ain’t No Love – Hank & Cupcakes (2012)
All The Things She Said - t.A.T.u. (2002)
At the End of the Rainbow – Sierra Ferrell (2021)
Audition (the fools who dream) – Emma Stone (2016)

ETA- All The Small Things was released in 1999. The source I used said 2000, but other sources say 1999, so I’m replacing it.

You left out an ‘m’!
“You left out the main one, too. Thought you could slip one over on me, didn’t you, eh?” - Groucho

America’s Sweetheart - Elle King (2015)

Another Day of Sun - La La Land soundtrack (2016)

I would like to appeal this ahead of some of my submissions. I took this to mean “No covers of songs originally released before January 1, 2000”. I have some cover songs in my mind, but all are covers of songs released in this century. (We are, of course, talking about a nearly 25 year period of time, so there are going to be some covers like this)

Is this exception OK? It allows us to pick the artist we like, without breaking the spirit of the poll. I would of course, provide the original artist and original release date parenthetically in my submission of one of these)

I hadn’t thought of that angle. Yeah, that sounds reasonable.

So, no covers of pre-2000 songs.

mmm

Well, Rufus, maybe I ain’t mean no more.

mmmm

We know you to well to believe that. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Whoops:

mmm

Dammit!

Replace All The Things She Said - t.A.T.u. (2002) with

Are You Alright? – Lucinda Williams (2007)

Arco Arena - Cake, 2001
Ask - Sharon Van Etten, 2012
All I Want Is You - Barry Louis Polisar (From the Juno soundtrack), 2008
Angry White Boy Polka - Weird Al, 2003

I’m seeing this as track 9 on Barry Louis Polisar’s album, " My Brother Thinks He’s a Banana and other Provocative Songs for Children (1977), but I can’t confirm it by my own knowledge.

barry louis polisar my brother thinks he’s a banana and other provocative songs for children songs - Google Search

Ah, I didn’t realize it predated the film…

In that case, replace “All I Want Is You” with “Anyone Else But You” by The Moldy Peaches, also from Juno but originally released in 2001.

You have to be careful of songs appearing in hit films and big hits by famous artists. Sometimes they completely overshadow the origins. (like just about every blues song recorded by a white band in the 60’s and 70’s)

I’m really not much of a music-head, but I mentioned this thread to my family over dinner, and they–all with active Spotify accounts–had suggestions, including:
Achilles Come Down, 2017, Gang of Youths

Alexander Hamilton, Lin Manuel Miranda & Hamilton Cast / 2015
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhinPd5RRJw/

All I’ve Ever Known, 2019, Reeve Carney/ Cast of Hadestown

About Damn Time, 2022, Lizzo

As the World Caves In, 2017, Matt Maltese

Ain’t Got Rhythm - Phineas & Ferb (2011) - best song in the whole damn series IMHO

Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked - Cage The Elephant (2008)

All I Wanna Do Is Play Cards - Corb Lund (2005) - annoyingly the video with the artist is a sketchy live version, so ignore this fan video and enjoy the song.

Amerika - Rammstein (2004)

As Good As I Once Was - Toby Keith (2005) - RIP.

I’ve got a few more I could have used but they seem to be being picked off one by one by other people anyway (“Achilles Come Down” was on my list but got named while I was typing).
