Arena Football: Austin wranglers Developmental Basketball: Austin Toros Hockey: The Austin Ice Bats (the bats who live under the Congress Avenue bridge are Austin’s biggest tourist attraction, so a lot of things here are named for the bats) ---

We have the **Charlotte Knights** (baseball, White Sox affiliate) and the **Charlotte Checkers** (NHL, Carolina Hurricanes affiliate.) There are also some independent league baseball teams like the Kannapolis Intimidators. ---

[Portland Winter Hawks](http://www.winterhawks.com/) - Western Hockey League. Cam Neely played for them, probably their most famous former player. Portland Beavers - AAA affiliate of the Padres, although they’re moving away after losing the rights to play in PGE Park. Portland Timbers, soccer team schecduled to move into PGE Park - vacated by the Beavers - in 2011. I don’t know enough about soccer to say whether that’s a minor league or major league team - they were USL \ but will soon be MLS \ ---

Here in the greater Youngstown, Ohio area, we have the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, the Rookie League minor league affiliate of The Cleveland Indians. Just to show they take their heritage seriously, the Scrappers were defeated 12-0 last night in their first game of the season. The team name (which of course has already has had all the insulting variations you just thought of applied to it many times over) appears to be in honor of the area’s steelmaking heritage…scrap iron, etc. Former Indians third baseman Travis Haffner is the Scrappers’ manager. ---

I used to live in Attica, which is a small town about halfway between Buffalo and Rochester (the two cities are about an hour’s drive apart). So I use to go to both cities on a regular basis. But I worked with people in Attica who were from Buffalo and they had literally never visited Rochester in their entire life. ---

Long Island Ducks in the independent Atlantic League (baseball). There are MLB related minors in Brooklyn and Staten Island. (Mets & Yanks, respectively) ---

Calgary Vipers - semi-pro baseball (Golden Baseball League) Calgary Hitmen - Junior “A” hockey Calgary Roughnecks - NLL lacrosse (I wouldn’t call this “minor league,” as it’s the top level of indorr lacrosse, but the OP included the Rochester Knighthawks, so I guess they fit the criteria) I suppose you could also make a case for the CFL being a “minor league” as well, in which case the Calgary Stampeders should be on my list. In years past, we also had a AAA baseball franchise (Calgary Cannons) and a WBL franchise (Calgary 88s). Damn, I enjoyed WBL basketball!
