I have one - anyone who uses the word “parent” (or the word “baby”) to refer to the relationship between a human being and a commensal animal has forfeited all rights to have an opinion on who else gets to have pets and who doesn’t. ---

I suppose the most controversial is definitely that I am pro-abortion in many cases, not just pro-choice. (Of course I still support a woman’s right to choose even if I don’t agree that her decision is the best.) Specifically, I don’t think closed adoption or “giving the baby up” is positive in the least. (Obviously this goes for people who have access to abortion or open adoption; sometimes I realize closed adoption is the best option available.) I also think fast food is delicious. I rarely get to eat it due to being in a rural area, but when I do, it’s so wonderful. I could go for a ton of Jack in the Box tacos right now. Another one is that I think people whose hobbies involve passively watching someone else do things need to get a life of their own. For example, people who say “music is my life!” but don’t make any music, people whose only hobby is watching sports, etc. ---

What’s wrong with using that word when that’s what a lot of people think that they are? If you are going to own a pit bull or any other dangerous animal than what’s wrong with some sort of requirement that you actually know what that animal is capable of and that you need to be raising it right before start walking it around town? ---

Leaving aside the whole “what’s a Pit Bull, then?” part of the argument that’s been rehashed countless times, you were a bit more comprehensive than just “dangerous animals” in your proposal - unless you think _lizards_ are just going to go for passing strangers… ---

I was comprehensive because I think putting the life of any animal in your hands is something that should be treated a hell of a lot more seriously than most do. Obviously you wouldn’t be taking college-level finals just to own a lizard, but you should certainly have to prove you know more than just “they’re green” before you can own one. ---

“Select,” “elite,” and “Junior Olympic” sports teams are marketing ploys that appeal to parents’ vanities and insecurities. The BeeGees and Journey made great music. No political party has a corner on the truth or righteousness. The average blue collar worker will make more than the average white collar worker in the near future because the vast majority of people who know how to fix shit are dying. Education should focus more on getting a job and less on expanding your mind. All that philosophizing won’t put a roof over your head. There are certain cultures who value peace more than others. The people who release those hyper testosterone movies are hypocrites for supporting gun control. You glorify violence, then reap what you sow. ---

The root of the problem with education in the US is that education is not valued. If parents and our society actually valued education, we would produce highly educated students. ---

I’m a semi-Holocaust denier. Meaning, I don’t have a dog in the fight, and both sides have equally good arguments on their sides. I also totally support Israel’s right to exist, and am not anti-Semitic, which makes me even more unpopular, because everybody who hates Holocaust deniers can’t play the 'because he’s an anti-Semite" card, and I have taken away their moral superiority. Win-win, for me! ---
