Many, many nicknames over the years. **Amber Bamber** and **Ambird Zebra** - Back in High School. They were plays on my real name, so they were relatively common. **Anastasia** and **Stasia** - When I started writing my pathetic attempts at poetry, I would use Anastasia as a nom de plum. When I got online, it would be my screen name almost everywhere I went. So as people started to get to know me, they’d know me as Anastasia, or just shortening it, Stasia. **Am** - a shortening of my real name, which I actually hear a lot more than Amber any more. **Amboo** - that, like **hardygrrl’s** , was because my nephew couldn’t say my name. It’s been far too long since I’ve heard it. ☹ and last but not least - **TruePisces** or **TP** - It started here on the board, and a lot of people don’t call me by anything more - though they may (or may not) know my real name. Most are still active nicknames, but a few have been retired.** I just call ya damn fine! 😃 --- _[View the full topic](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/what-are-your-nicknames/92430)._
