What are your nicknames?

I lived most of my life without having a single nickname. Maybe it’s because my actual name is so simple or maybe it’s because I’m so bland and colorless.

Where I work, people avoid calling each other by their first names, so most people are known by either their last name or a nickname. As I said, I have no nickname and my last name is “King” so some people call me “kinger”. Maybe they figure it’s bad enough I’m the boss without having to call me King.

Other than that, the closest thing I have to a nickname is “Nemo”. Obviously this originated with this board and I’ve never been known as Nemo anywhere else. The name has no special meaning to me; I just happened to have been reading a collection of “Little Nemo in Slumberland” comics the day I picked a new username. But at some doperfests people call me Nemo even after I introduce myself by my real name.

Other nick names I’ve had (other than goon, goonie, goonhead):

Guido – one I picked voluntarily for german class, because it sounded italian. This evolved into “Gueed”.

Bubba – my sister called me this because she thought it would help give me a macho image. She got all her friends to call me this when I was about 14 or 15.

Eraser Head (high school)
