I’m a vendor and also the manager. I’ll know that it’s open! We generally are open the Fourth when it’s a Saturday. People want their good fresh salad greens. ---

This is my biggest fear of leaving over the years: Not being home to extinguish fires from the douchebags shooting off shit they shouldn’t in neighborhoods like ours. I’ve seen the fires. They happen. That shit should be illegal. I loved fireworks growing up but I now despise them in residential settings. Hate them so, so much! ---

Every year, local law enforcement talks tough about clamping down on the illegal stuff, and every year just escalates. On more than one occasion, DH and/or I have had to call out from work on 5 July because there was so much racket ALL DAMN NIGHT that sleep was impossible. ---

I’ll be in Montreal, at a gay square dance convention. (Technically, it’s a convention run by the international association of gay square dance clubs.) I’ll be there for Canada Day, too, so maybe I’ll catch some fireworks. ---

Canuck here, not a USaian, but since July 4 is only a few days after Canada Day July 1, I suspect that in my capacity as a Dog I’ll be cowering under the desk from fireworks still going off. But maybe not. Last Victoria Day – otherwise known as The Day of Endless Exploding Objects – was surprisingly quiet this year. I have hope that there may have been some new laws or stronger enforcement to inhibit the madness. ---

Canadian also, but since the Fourth of July is a Saturday, I’m sure there will be some great stakes races running at American horse racing tracks. It looks like the Belmont will be running at Saratoga that day, for example. So I’ll be at the local race book with my Racing Form, wagering on American tracks. ---

This will be the first time I will be in the US on July 4th in ? years (4 or 5 maybe) and as of right now, we have no plans. If someone invites me for some type of cookout then I might do that, but if not, I may cook some hot dogs at home and likely watch some tennis (Wimbledon runs from the June 29 to July 12). `//i\\` ---

Probably nothing. We have a no-drive policy for holidays, so while my kids will likely have a picnic, we will just as likely not participate. Oh, and no fireworks; they bother that small part of my brain that screams **INCOMING!!!** ---

Play video games. Here in California anything but the big professional fireworks is illegal these days; having lost a good chunk of my home town a few years ago to fire (I had to evacuate for days, stayed in a refugee center) I’m sympathetic to that position at this point. Also, even if I felt like celebrating these days, I don’t have anyone to celebrate _with_ nearer than Wisconsin. ---
