What became ubiquitous then went away in your lifetime?

OK, there’s another thread about sunroofs in cars. I’m too lazy to link to it, but there was indeed a period (maybe 1970 - 1990) when after-market sunroofs were fairly popular. Don’t see them much now.

I was told they leaked and made the car structure dangerous in case of an accident. But that could be wrong.
