I love Heinlein’s work, but what was interesting about his life?
Well, most of his females characters were modeled after his second wife, Ginny, so you can well imagine that they must have had an interesting marriage. He also served in the Navy, working on classified projects during WW II, after being discharged for having TB, he worked as a prospector, ran for political office, designed and built his own house (complete with bomb shelter), and travelled the world, to name but a few things he’s done.
I love that movie, and I should have thought about it before I read your post. Still I think a straight up adaptation of Xenophon would be cool would be cool.
James Brown… the great music… the sex… the dancing… the drugs… the cross state line car chase and cop shootout.
The James Brown Story’s got it all.
Agreed on Orwell, Philip Dick, and Socrates.
I would love to see a decent biopic about Richard Feynman, the physicist that dealt with his whole life rather than just his relationship with his first wife.
Other choices:
Brian Jones
Miles Davis
Whoops, forgot Colonel Arthur " Bull" Simons, one of the best special forces troops ever to serve and the brains behind the rescue operation from “Wings of Eagles.”
Ellen Naomi Cohen - better known as Mama Cass Elliot. They could call it Creeque Alley (I’ve been thinking about this since the mid 70’s - of course at that time, I figured I could play the teenage her)
Stoned, a Brian Jones biopic, came out earlier this year, though apparently it’s not that good.
Me, I’d like to see a Jean Batten biopic: hot sexy 1930’s aviatrix flies solo halfway around the world, is feted by thousands, then dies unnoticed 50 years later in penniless obscurity and is buried in a pauper’s grave. Peter Jackson, of course, will be forced at gunpoint to direct - although as a Kiwi who collects vintage planes he may not need too much persuading.
The Percival Gull she flew from England to NZ in - pictures in the link - is on permanent display at Auckland Airport: it’s tiny, and I can’t imagine flying anywhere but a couple of circles round an airfield in it, let alone from England to NZ with no radio and only a watch and a compass for navigation. Amazing woman. Fantastic story. Sad ending.
