I say never, ever give up the advantage of that much privacy. One can get a world-class education in the loo. 😉

1000 Stupid Jokes. The child reads them whilst (oops I just annoyed someone with a pit thread) pooing. I think we have covered about 998, most of them at least twice.

Just poo and get off! Stop with the jokes. Stop reading them to me! I am no longer amused at jokes read from the loo. There are more comfy places to read and jokes don’t count anyway. Stop pooing and go read something sensible(I think I just ranted at my child).

Since HeartOnMySleeve hasn’t answered: I don’t know about Bust, but Bitch is a sort of GenX feminist magazine. It’s pretty cool, I like it.

Harper’s (2 issues)
Atlantic Monthly
Rain Taxi Review of Books (3)
American Woodworker and Handyman (girlfriend’s 😛 )
Boondocks collection
Artist’s Magazine and
(More) George W. Bushisms

Some of them are very dusty. I know what I’m doing tomorrow…

So, StarWas, are you going, or do you just like to read the brochures? 😉

I am starting at Michigan is the summer. But I do like to read the brochures.

Best of luck 🙂 .

It would be great if you graduated and passed the bar exam and were a partner in a huge law firm, or hell, had a seat on the bench, _but still kept reading the brochures…_

The only things in the bathroom right now: _Foucault’s Pendulum_, by Umberto Eco, and a Home Decorator’s catalog.

However, I just got done setting up some shelves in a cubby space right across from the bathroom door (studio apartment - maximize space!), so theoretically I could grab anything from my paperback collection on the way in. 🙂

Whoa, this is appropriate, I just got out. Anyway, I usually bring something in with me, but for two mornings my book hasn’t been around so I went in there with nothing. I figured that it’s been awhile since I read the shampoo bottles, so they may have changed. When I got there I found my nephew had a bunch of his books in there, so now I’m in the middle of one of his stories.

**Captain Underpants and the Wrath of the Wicked Wedgie Women**

Understand that it’s a reading done out of necessity.

In the thread about what reading material you have in the bathroom several people mentioned shampoo bottles. I’m sure most of us know that bathroom can mean different things in different English but it got me thinking.

At your house are the bathroom and toilet seprate rooms? They are at mine and 90% (IMHO) of the houses here. What is the norm where you are?

Here in the U.S., the toilet is in the bathroom. (Hence the oft-used comic scene of some poor guy or kid dying to relieve themselves while a woman of the house takes her sweet time in the shower.) If there’s a separate room with just a toilet and sink, it’s referred to as a 1/2 bath.

I noticed the toilet/bathroom split in Australia, but it wasn’t uniform. The apartment I rented in Adelaide, for example, had toilet, bath AND washer/dryer all in the same room.

**Premiere** the movie magazine
**Reader’s Digest** of course and
**Asimov’s Digest** which has a delightful mix of short poems to longish novellas, perfect bathroom reading.

Sigh…not the most intellectual grouping, but at least they’re all current issues, that counts for something, right?

**calm kiwi** I get having a loo with just a sink and toilet, but the thought of a room with a tub and/or shower but without a toilet boggles my mind. Am I misunderstanding or something?

Nope you are not misunderstanding, though we might be weird. Most houses have a room with just a loo (not even a sink as well often) and a room with shower, bath and sink.

Hey maybe that is why we don’t ask for the bathroom…we don’t want to piddle in your bath 😉

3 mostly done copies of _Games_ magazine. One almost complete book of British Logic Puzzles, which are easier than American ones for some strange reason. One book of picture by number puzzles. I also bring stuff in.

How could anyone not read on the pot? When I moved to Africa when I was 10, I read the entire _Rise and Fall of the Third Reich_ while becoming adjusted to the, ahem, climate.
