Your lease agreement may specify certain dog breeds that aren’t permitted. Pit Bulls, Dobermans, Rotties, Mastiffs and German Shepherds are most commonly on the prohibited list, but the list often includes additional breeds.
Even when you buy a home, all insurance companies have a list of dog breeds that they won’t cover. If you have a breed of dog on their ‘aggressive breeds’ list, they will not issue a homeowners policy to you!
