A few pounds ago in H.S., I was frequently told that I looked like Alicia Silverstone. I could see a little resemblance back then. Now I’m hearing Jeneane Garofalo, which is just fine with me too. ---

A young William Shatner. Can you believe that sh\*t? My friend has this picture of him, like a “movie still”, from the sixties, where he has dark hair, and it looks EXACTLY like me. I mean, it looks like a picture of me. And yes I look like a creepy pedophile when I wear sunglasses. Needless to say I squint. If anyone can beat that I would like to hear it. ---

In high school (late 80’s) I was told I looked like John Candy. Sad I know. Now I look EXACTLY like the guy that sings the Powder Puff girls song. I’ve only seen it once and he did look just like me. Kind of erie. My nephews and nieces tell their friends at school that that’s their uncle. Apperently it’s on at 7am CST on cartoon network but I’m never home to tape it. Routinely, people would point at me and say, “There goes Leon Russel!”. I never understood this until I saw one of his album covers where, sure as shootin’, we looked like twins separated at birth. Now that I’m clean shaven, wear a black Fedora and a blue blazer, people tell me I look Dan Ackroyd. I do my best to believe that they’re trying to be complimentry. ---

Oh, and when I was overweight and had long hair, people said I looked like Meat Loaf. I think it was the weight and the hair, my face doesn’t look like his, IMO. It’s like if you have long hair and a beard everybody says you look like Jesus. ---

When I was in my 20s, people used to say I looked like Madonna – this was during her Material Girl stage. At that time I was wearing my hair short, blond and curly. In fact, my hair style at the time was based on Marilyn Monroe a la _Bus Stop_. Of course, Madonna was also channeling Monroe then, so I suppose this accounts for the resemblance. A few years later someone said I looked like Hilary Clinton. I was still blond then, and was wearing my hair in a Hilary-esqe pageboy. And, we were at a wedding so I was wearing a suit… Still, that isn’t exactly the look I was going for at the time, so I changed my hair style and color. Most recently (since my hair has been red), I’ve been compared to Emma Thompson. I don’t see it myself (although I certainly have no objection to the comparison). ---

The only “celebrity” that I’ve ever been told I look like is everybody’s favorite Japanese terrorist cult leader, [Shoko Asahara](http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/HFeid/aum.htm). _Hey, thanks! Back atcha!_ I am a pasty Caucasian, so this must have just been one of those Shoko Asahara je ne sais quoi kind of things. Admittedly, I had the beard and the girth at the time, and still have the long-as-God-can-grow-it hair. ---

I look so much like **Paul Szep** , editorial cartoonist and author of a particularly bad Boston Globe comic strip, that my co-workers once put up a “Dewar’s Profiles” ad featuring him on my door with his name blacked out. All day people were asking me how I got into a whiskey ad. He has a more Jay Leno-ish chin than me, though. Now I’ve got a beard, and he doesn’t. ---

I used to get the younger sister from Providence, Paula Cale, I think is her name, all the time. Thought, yeah right, had never seen the show. But then I watched it, and yeah, I really do. Recently was out with a table of like 12 people, and one guy said, “who is it that she looks like again?” and two people answered “Yasmin Bleeth.” Chorus of “Oh yeah, thats right, she really does”, etc. etc. from the whole table. Again, I say, yeah right. If nothing else, though, it makes me wanna have that body! ---

My wife used to say I looked like William Hurt. I just accepted what I considered a compliment with a couple of pounds of salt until one day she found a mag photo that really bore it out (if I wore my contacts and smiled more). And when she younger and wore her hair shorter she looked more like Jamie Lee Curtis. The years may not have been overly kind to either of us, but we sure make beautifl children! ---

It’s scary how much I look like Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz. Our facial features match almost perfectly. He’s a few inches taller, though.
