Many years ago I was at a science fiction convention in Seattle(I forget which one), and about 1 am on a Saturday night/Sunday morning I wandered into a filk circle and sat down on the floor next to a woman holding a guitar. When it came her turn to pick a song from the book o’ filk or play something of her own, Meg Davis picked up her guitar [and sang “Other People’s Children”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbJTzKwTF44), and if I am ever lucky enough to sit in a circle with her again, I will request that she play it. ---

I would dearly love to hear “O Holy Night” sung by a girl or young woman, with no frou-frou styling. i.e., no scooping, no forced vibrato, no dramatic orchestra and cymbal crashes. Just a sincere heart and hardly any training. It’s a song that can bring me to tears, even though I’m not even Christian. Something about the 'thrill of hope" part I guess. I too love “Wonderful Christmastime.” I have a picture-sleeve 45rpm of it. 🙂 I like “Girls’ School” better, though.🆒 ---

the bad religion Christmas album…when me and my nephew heard about it we expected the usual social/political sarcastic snark that’s the hall mark of bad religion just disguised for xmas … Nope they sang it straight just did the music in their style … Ive gave the cd to people who don’t like punk or Christmas music and they’ve loved it… ---
