Any version of Santa Baby by anyone. Any version of Baby It’s Cold Outside (even by Zoey in Elf). And as mentioned, Springsteen’s Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Not only was it probably recorded in July (those poor unsuspecting concert goers, looking for Born to Run and being subjected to that crap) but it’s horrible! At least we have a special iTunes playlist of just the “good stuff”\*, and we don’t overplay the songs. We never hear any of these bad songs unless we’re in some store and can’t avoid them. \*YMMV. We have Rudolph and LDB and Alvin (ALVIN!) in the playlist, and Der Bingle, and the Andrew Sisters, and traditional hymns and Mitch Miller and… ---

“Happy Xmas War is Over” and “Wonderful Christmastime.” Much as I like John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s other music, I dislike those two songs. ---

Y’all forgot the Band Aid number from the eighties _Do They Know It’s Christmas?_. DO THEY FUCKING CARE? For whatever perverse reason(s), it seems to come up on the Christmas playlists of radio stations and Pandora multiple times every year. Blech! ---

I was just about to mention that one. Bono’s smarminess is what kills it for me. “So tonight, thank God it’s them, instead of yoooooouuuuu!” Yeah, I really need to hear that from a multi-millionaire. Bonus points for lines that refer to Africa as a monolithic state of poverty, as opposed to a diverse and in most cases highly-developed set of countries. I will probably be dodging rotten tomatoes for this one, but I desperately wish \*I’ll Be Home For Christmas’ \* would be forever banished from the Christmas repetoire. I know the story and genesis of the song and because I do, it makes me so sad every time I hear it. Who wants to be sad at Christmas?? It didn’t help when the homeless organizations adopted it for their holiday giving campaign, either. Now I associate it with the homeless as well as dead soldiers. Yikes. Please, Santa, make it go away. ---

I’m not hating on most of the ones listed but the one that makes me stabby is Porky Pig doing Blue Christmas. Not only is it offensive but it ruins an otherwise decent Elvis song. ---

Barely even in the same universe as Christmas songs. It’s not like there aren’t eleventy million actual songs about winter or Christmas that could be played, stick to those. ---
