This discussion reminds me of what my History professor said about the reputation of French women. He described a scene during WWI where a British soldier is in France and meets a young woman. He buys her a drink and she kisses him on the cheek. He thinks wow this girl really really likes me, not realizing that a kiss on the cheek means very little on that side of the channel. He kisses her on the lips and she thinks wow this guy really really likes me, not realizing that he’s only following her lead from his point of view. They end up in bed together and he goes home to tell all his friends that French women are promiscuous. FWIW, having lived in Florida I reached the conclusion that it’s difficult to make friends there because half the people you meet will be gone in six months or less and the other half are waiting to see if YOU will be gone in six months. But it’s hard to draw conclusions from anecdotal evidence. I doubt there are many peer-reviewed scientific papers on the subject. ---
